SONY fans in the Philippines have something to look forward to in October. Remember the smartphones that the company launched at the recent IFA 2017? Two of them — the Sony Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XA1 Plus — will be on their way here.

In fact, Sony Philippines has already priced the Xperia XZ1 — it’s P39,990 or about $781, by the way — and will take preorders for it starting tomorrow, September 15, until October 1.

The phone is part of Sony’s premium lineup. Powering the XZ1 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-a-chip with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. As with many of the company’s devices, it is water- and dust-resistant. The full-HD screen measures 5.2 inches, the battery is 2700mAh, and the user interface is based on Android Oreo.

The Sony Xperia XZ1 uses the same camera system and 19- and 13-megapixel sensors as the Xperia XZs and XZ Premium, the rear of which can shoot super-slow-motion video and capture 3D images.

Early adopters will be able to get the phone — and a free Sony wireless Bluetooth speaker worth P2,999 or $59 — starting October 13. More preorder details can be found here.

As mentioned earlier, the Sony Xperia XA1 Plus will also arrive in the Philippines in October. However, Sony has not revealed its pricing and exact release date yet.

The XA1 Plus, unlike the XZ1, belongs to Sony’s midrange smartphone series. The word “Plus” in its name gives you an idea that the device is all about size — from its 5.5-inch full-HD screen and 3,430mAh battery to its 23-megapixel main camera.

Underneath its hood is a Mediatek MT6757 Helio P20 processor paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in memory, which you can still expand through a microSD card slot.

Unfortunately, the Sony Xperia XA1 Plus is not water-resistant, a departure from most of the Japanese company’s recent offerings. It’s running Android Nougat, too, though Sony has mentioned that the operating system will be updated to Android Oreo in the future.
