A week after it began officially teasing the device, Infinix today has unveiled what it calls the Infinix Concept Phone 2021.

This is the brand’s first concept handset — and Infinix’s way of showing everyone that while it’s focused on making affordable youth-oriented products for emerging markets like the Philippines, it’s not slacking off in the innovation department.

One of the technologies you’ll find showcased in the Infinix Concept Phone 2021 is its 160-watt fast-charging technology. In the video included in the tweet below, you’ll see that the unit’s 4,000mAh battery has gone from 0% to 18% in a minute, to 58% in 5 minutes, and then to 100% in a mere 9 minutes and 58 seconds. Fast? You bet.

Not only that, the smartphone is equipped with a 50-watt wireless-charging function, so you can quickly top it up without any wires in no time.

With 60 security-protection mechanisms; Infinix’s Innovative Super Charge Pump that supports high power conversion; and an 8C battery cell that the company claims can reduce more than 18% of internal resistance in comparison with a 6C battery and produces less heat, you’ll be assured of safety when charging.

The Infinix Concept Phone 2021 likewise combines electrochromic and electroluminescent technologies to “create the industry’s first dual color-changing back cover, using light as the medium and electric field as the process.” The rear panel changes between light blue and silver gray when you get an incoming call. The same thing happens when the device is charging.

The other features that Infinix has stuffed into its Concept Phone 2021 include the following:

  • 88-degree curved waterfall AMOLED screen measuring 6.67 inches;
  • 64-megapixel main camera assisted by a 120-degree ultra-wide-angle lens and a telephoto one that can achieve up to 60x digital zoom;
  • 32-megapixel selfie camera;
  • 64-bit octa-core processor with two performance core ARM Cortex-A76 and six power-efficient core Cortex-A55 CPUs operating at 2.05GHz and 2GHz, respectively;
  • ARM Mali-G76 MP4 GPU;
  • 8GB RAM;
  • 128GB storage; and
  • Android 11.

“While many emerging features are expensive and unobtainable for the everyday consumer, Infinix is committed to offering consumers innovation at an attainable price,” shares Infinix Mobility senior research and development manager Jessy Zhang.

Sure, what you’re looking at now may “just” be a concept smartphone, but it represents what we can expect from future Infinix devices.
