Official confirmation has been made that LG’s next superphone, the LG G5, is indeed slated to debut on February 21, which is also the launch date for the Samsung Galaxy S7. We no longer have to take the rumored launch date with a grain of salt, as LG took to Facebook and the company’s social blog to announce the news.

Curiously enough, February 21 marks the earliest unveiling of an LG flagship . The company, so it seems, is no longer keen on releasing  its most anticipated product months after the Galaxy S line has hit retail stores and carrier sites. And with the Galaxy S7 reportedly retaining its appearance, it appears the stage is set for the G5 to surprise and wow people with a fresh design and exciting features to win over Samsung defectors.

Unlike its South Korean rival Samsung, LG has so far been successful in keeping the G5 (literally) under wraps. However, that’s not to say the tech community is in the dark about what to expect come launch day. A previous leak in which the G4 successor is shown encased in a dummy box suggests the phone might have a curved metal body, dual rear-facing cameras, a fingerprint sensor, and a USB Type-C port.

Dual displays, similar to those of the LG V10, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor are rumored to be included in the specs sheet as well. We’ll know for sure in three short weeks.
