You might recall that Huawei previously held its “Creation of Beauty” launch event in Dubai, where it unveiled an ecosystem of new products headlined by the Huawei FreeClip and Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2″.

Now, those devices are finally available in the Philippines after a long preorder period on the Huawei Online Store, Shopee, and Lazada and at retail stores nationwide, with the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2″ debuting as the company’s biggest and most ambitious tablet yet for the consumer market.

Tagged by Huawei as a masterpiece, the newly launched HarmonyOS-based laptop alternative offers impressive specs to justify its premium starting price of P59,999 (around $1,063 converted) for the 12GB + 256GB WiFi-only variant. It is also available in a 12GB + 512GB trim that sells for P64,999 ($1,152) and sports a green chassis as pictured here.

But how does the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2″ stack up against the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Plus, which launched last year as a media powerhouse with a 12.4-inch AMOLED display and top-of-the-line specs, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 5G chipset? The South Korean manufacturer’s plus-sized tablet is currently priced at P56,990 ($1,010) and P64,990 ($1,152) for the 256GB and 512GB storage options, respectively.

Both devices occupy the same high-end price segment, more or less, and are positioned as laptop replacements, so we thought, “Why not compare them since they’re very similar, and yet also so different at the same time?” Watch our in-depth comparison video and decide for yourself which device is the best fit for your lifestyle and needs.

Between them, they've shaped content for Yahoo, T3, Techie, TV5, MEGA, GadgetMatch, and Gadgets, with a few strategic side quests in retail, PR, and marketing. We're a lean team, which means no filler and no fluff, just the stories worth telling. Between chasing kids, specs, and the perfect camera angle, we brew coffee, shoot content, play video games, watch hoops, blast our favorite bands, and somehow still hit our deadlines.
