(Update, January 2: The Redmi Turbo 4 is now official!)

The Redmi Turbo 4 is confirmed to debut in China on January 2. We’re looking forward to it, as it will be first smartphone rocking the MediaTek Dimensity 8400-Ultra. The 5G processor is basically a a souped-up version of the already impressive Dimensity 8400. We’re talking about a chip with all big cores, designed to bring flagship-level performance to a more affordable price point.

The launch teasers show that Redmi has been putting in work on the design front. This time around, it’s introducing a Lucky Cloud White color option — and it looks seriously sleek. Imagine a frosted soft fog glass back cover with a vertical red line running slightly off-center. We think this design element adds a touch of sophistication and sets the phone apart from the crowd.

On the imaging front, the Redmi Turbo 4 is packing a dual rear-camera setup, with a 50-megapixel main sensor that comes with optical image stabilization. It even has a variable focal length, going from 15mm to 26mm. We’ve already caught a glimpse of this in some of the teasers, and it’s looking promising.

Word has it that this device will come with up to 16GB of RAM. On top of that, it’s expected to run on Android 15-based HyperOS 2.0, sport a massive 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, and feature a 20-megapixel selfie camera. And if you’re worried about battery life, don’t be, because this upcoming Turbo model is rumored to have a massive 6,550mAh battery with 90-watt fast charging.

Sadly, it seems like the Redmi Turbo 4 might be a China exclusive. But hey, there’s a good chance that we’ll see a rebranded version hitting global markets, possibly as the POCO X7 Pro. Keep your fingers crossed.
