Remember when phone makers were in a race to see who could go thinnest? For a while there, it felt like we traded impossibly slim slabs for bigger batteries and more camera bumps. But Samsung just signaled a potential shift, pulling back the curtain on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, a device that seems determined to bring the thin back in a big way.
We’ve been seeing teases about this smartphone since its initial unveil back in January, but now it’s official. The big story here is immediately apparent: at a mere 5.8mm thick, the Galaxy S25 Edge is strikingly slender. It’s also light at 163 grams, especially considering the tech packed inside. Samsung’s gone with a titanium frame, which adds a touch of premium resilience without piling on the bulk. It has even layered the front with this new Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which sounds fancy and promises to keep that gorgeous 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display looking pristine.

Samsung has stuffed some serious flagship-level features in here. You’re getting the same horsepower as the rest of the S25 lineup with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset humming under the hood, paired with a solid 12GB of RAM. Storage options are generous, too, starting at 256GB and going up to 512GB.
The camera situation is intriguing. While it doesn’t have the full telephoto array of the Ultra, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge sports a headlining 200-megapixel wide lens. The company says this, combined with its Nightography tech, means significantly brighter low-light shots. There’s also a 12-megapixel ultrawide that, crucially, has auto-focus, which is great news for anyone who likes to get up close and personal with macro shots.
And because it’s a Galaxy S25 series phone, you get the whole suite of Galaxy AI tricks baked in, from photo-editing magic like Audio Eraser and Drawing Assist to smart features integrated into things like Brief and Now Bar. It feels like Samsung is further pushing the “AI companion” angle this year, even bringing in Gemini Live for more dynamic interactions.
Of course, making a phone this thin often involves some compromises, and the battery is the most obvious one. The Galaxy S25 Edge packs a 3,900mAh cell. Now, Samsung is claiming all-day battery life thanks to AI optimizations, but physics is a stubborn thing. It’s smaller than the batteries in the other S25 models, so that’s definitely something we’ll be keeping a close eye on in the real world. Charging is pegged at 25-watt wired, which is fine, but not the fastest out there.
Beyond slim. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is priced from $1,099 (roughly P61,312)
Priced starting at $1,099 (P61,312), the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge sits squarely between the S25 Plus and the S25 Ultra. It feels like the Korean technology giant is positioning this for someone who wants that premium Galaxy experience and top-tier performance but prioritizes a sleek design above all else, perhaps even more than having the absolute biggest screen or the most versatile camera system. It’s a bold move, especially as rumors of a similarly slim iPhone 17 are already circulating.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is set to hit shelves on May 30, but it’s already up for preorder in the United States (no sign of a Philippine release, unfortunately) in Titanium Silver, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Icyblue finishes. It’s running Android 15 with Samsung’s One UI 7 over the top, and Samsung is promising a good run of software updates, which is always a plus. It’s water and dust resistant, too, because accidents happen, no matter how careful you are with your impossibly thin new phone.
Ultimately, the Galaxy S25 Edge feels like Samsung saying, “Hey, we can still do cutting-edge thin without totally sacrificing performance.” Whether that resonates with enough people used to bigger, thicker smartphones with monster batteries remains to be seen.
