Xiaomi will bring a new tablet to the Philippines, and this time, the company is squarely targeting the budget-conscious crowd.

Forget flagship aspirations for a moment; Xiaomi is rolling out the Redmi Pad 2, an entry-level, 4G-enabled tablet designed to deliver solid performance — and, perhaps more importantly, true on-the-go internet — without breaking the bank. It will be available exclusively online.

Scheduled to hit shelves in the Philippines starting tomorrow, June 5, the Redmi Pad 2 kicks off at an appealing P11,999 (roughly $215) for the base configuration, which includes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. For those needing a bit more power and storage space, an 8GB RAM/256GB storage variant will also be on offer for P13,999 ($251).

As a special launch offer, early birds can purchase the Redmi Pad 2 for P1,500 ($27) less than its usual retail price until June 18, so that’s P10,499 ($188) for the base model and P12,499 ($22Xiaomi has announced the release of the Redmi Pad 2 4G tablet not just globally but also in the Philippines. The new tablet packs a sizable 11-inch 2.5K LCD display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. Powering the show is a massive 9,000mAh battery paired with MediaTek’s Helio G100 Ultra chipset. Xiaomi claims impressive longevity, boasting up to 19 hours of video playback and a staggering 270 hours for music. While the screen is optimized for the Redmi Smart Pen digital stylus, it’s worth noting that you’ll need to pick one up separately.

Of course, connectivity is key here, and the Redmi Pad 2 delivers with 4G cellular data, letting you stay online wherever you are and allowing you to use the tablet as a rather large portable Wi-Fi hotspot. Storage anxiety? Not here, with the option to expand up to a massive 2TB via microSD. For media consumption, the device punches above its weight with four speakers — with two speakers on each side — for better spatial audio. Capping it all off is the metal unibody design, giving this budget-friendly model a decidedly more premium feel than its price tag suggests.
