The next chapter in Samsung‘s foldable story has a date. After much speculation, the company has officially announced July 9, 2025, as the day it will host its next Unpacked event, ushering in a new era for its bendable smartphones. You can catch the launch livestream on Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom, and the Samsung YouTube channel, kicking off at 10 p.m. Philippine time.
While the official teaser video ends with “Ultra Unfolds” — suggesting an Ultra-branded Galaxy Z foldable many assumed is called the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra — industry chatter indicates that’s unlikely this time around. Instead, the smart money is on three new folding phones: the flagship Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, the refreshed Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7, and a more budget-friendly Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE.
While the global launch event is set to unfold in Brooklyn, New York, Samsung fans in the Philippines can get a head start. Register now on the brand’s website for exclusive updates and perks. Those who do will get up to a P5,000 (around $88) digital discount voucher, plus an additional P3,000 ($53) voucher for just P500 ($9), and even a shot at winning a Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. That’s a pretty sweet deal if you’re eyeing a new foldable.
To put things in perspective, last year’s Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 made their local debut in July. In the Philippines, the Z Flip6 started at P70,990 ($1,245), while the Z Fold6 was priced from P105,990 ($1,859) for the base model, packing 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Expect similar, if not higher, price points this year, especially with new tech on board.

All eyes are on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7. Word on the street suggests this year’s flagship is rumored to be the South Korean technology giant’s thinnest yet, potentially just between 3.9mm and 4.5mm unfolded, thanks to a re-engineered hinge that promises a nearly invisible crease. Expect significant upgrades, including a potential 200-megapixel main camera sensor, larger 8-inch inner and 6.5-inch cover displays, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, all running Android 16-based One UI 8.

Thickness comparison: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 vs Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
Meanwhile, leaked renders of the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE give us our clearest look yet at these clamshells. The standard Flip7 is set to arrive in sleek Jet Black, vibrant Blue Shadow, and eye-catching Coral Red, with a notable design overhaul focusing on a much larger, almost full-coverage 4-inch Super AMOLED cover screen — a significant jump from its predecessor’s cramped 3.4-inch panel. The FE model, on the other hand, appears to be a near carbon copy of the Flip6, retaining that familiar folder-shaped cover display and sticking to more understated Black and White color options, likely aiming for a more accessible price point. Both flips are rumored to be powered by Samsung’s freshly unveiled Exynos 2500 chipset, suggesting a focus on improved performance and efficiency across the board.

Beyond a fresh batch of folding devices, keep an eye out for the Samsung Galaxy Watch8 series, which is also expected to make an appearance during the keynote.
This year’s Unpacked event isn’t just about fresh hardware, though. Expect another major push for Galaxy AI. Its teaser says its “next-generation Galaxy devices are being reimagined around a new AI-powered interface, supported by breakthrough hardware built to unlock their full potential.” Translation: Prepare for another round of AI-powered tools and hardware improvements that could change how you interact with your phone.
