Good news, HUAWEI fans! The HUAWEI Pura 80 series is officially making its way to the Philippines soon, hot on the heels of its global debut in Dubai earlier this month.
The local launch perfectly aligns with the lineup’s regional debut in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 22, which we’ll be covering live. So, keep an eye on our social media channels and this site for all the real-time updates.
To pump up the hype even more before the Pura 80’s Philippine arrival, HUAWEI’s local team is hosting an exclusive preview event from July 26 to July 27 at select HUAWEI Experience Stores across the country. You can register for that event right here.
We’ve been informed that a trio of Pura 80 phones — the standard HUAWEI Pura 80, the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro, and the top-tier HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra — are scheduled for local release, as early as August 7 even. That means the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro Plus won’t make it here. Pricing and exact release details are expected to drop by that time. And because we’re talking about the technology giant’s latest flagship smartphones, expect a generous haul of freebies accompanying your device purchase, a tradition with previous Pura launches.
Coming to the Philippines August 7!
Last year, the HUAWEI Pura 70 series arrived on the local market with a competitive starting price of P47,999, or roughly $840 converted.
Leading the charge this time around is the HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra, billed as a true camera powerhouse. It boasts a 1-inch large sensor for its main camera with a versatile variable aperture range of f/1.6 to f/4.0, promising stellar low-light performance. The company claims shots from this main shooter offer a 15x higher dynamic range compared to last year’s already impressive Pura 70 Ultra. This cutting-edge main camera is paired with a switchable telephoto lens backed by a 1/1.28-inch sensor.
Talking about the switchable tele system, HUAWEI engineered an intricate moving mechanism in the Ultra model that seamlessly shifts between the two lenses. This innovation delivers 3.7x and 9.4x optical zoom with sensor-shift OIS or optical image stabilization. Basically, this means you can capture images at an f/2.4 aperture with an 83mm equivalent focal length or at an f/3.6 aperture with a 212mm focal length, offering remarkable photographic flexibility.
The HUAWEI Pura 80 is the most compact of the lineup, featuring a flat 6.6-inch display and a robust 5,600mAh battery that supports 66-watt wired charging and 50-watt wireless charging. Meanwhile, the Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Ultra step up with larger 6.8-inch displays featuring quad-curved glass. All Pura 80 models are equipped with LTPO OLED displays offering a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate, along with 10-bit colors and second-generation Kunlun Glass for improved durability. As expected, they run HUAWEI’s EMUI 15 software out of the box and are powered by Kirin chipsets.
