OPPO K13 Turbo Pro, K13 Turbo debut as ‘waterproof’ gaming phones with built-in fan

We’ve seen plenty of smartphones with built-in cooling fans in the past, and we’ve certainly seen a parade of devices sporting multiple water-resistance ratings. But, for obvious reasons, these two features have never appeared together in a commercial phone — until now.

As expected, OPPO debuted its new gaming-centric smartphone line — the K13 Turbo series. The lineup includes two new contenders: the top-tier OPPO K13 Turbo Pro and its more wallet-friendly sibling, the OPPO K13 Turbo.

These new models pack an active cooling fan with customizable RGB lighting and boast an impressive hat trick of IPX9, IPX8, and IPX6 water-resistance ratings. It’s a mind-boggling feat when you consider the series’ distinct design, which somehow accommodates that integrated fan without compromising durability.

Pricing, as always, is a critical factor, and OPPO appears to be playing an aggressive hand this time around. The K13 Turbo Pro starts at ¥1,999, or roughly $279 or P15,875 converted, while the standard K13 Turbo enters the fray at ¥1,799 ($250 or P14,287). For the tech they’re bringing to the table, these prices are surprisingly competitive.

Predictably, OPPO remains tight-lipped about global pricing and availability. However, a recent leak hints that the K13 Turbo series might not be a China-exclusive affair. The report suggests OPPO is eyeing an August launch for both models in India, though the company has yet to officially confirm this. It’s not a stretch, given that the OPPO K13x 5G and OPPO K13 5G have already landed in India, making an expansion of the K13 lineup there a logical next step.

Fingers crossed, OPPO extends its reach to the Philippines and other international markets, where pricing is, and always will be, king. With mobile gaming being so popular here, and given their aggressive starting prices, the K13 Turbo Pro and K13 Turbo could be huge hits.

Under the hood, the OPPO K13 Turbo Pro is powered by the formidable Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, the same silicon found in the recently unveiled Nothing Phone 3 and POCO F7. The standard OPPO K13 Turbo, meanwhile, opts for the MediaTek Dimensity 8450, a chip familiar from the global OPPO Reno14 Pro.

Elsewhere, both models sport expansive 6.8-inch 120Hz AMOLED displays, a 50-megapixel main camera on the rear, and a 16-megapixel selfie shooter upfront. Keeping the lights on are large 7,000mAh batteries with 80-watt fast-charging support. The OPPO K13 Turbo Pro and OPPO K13 Turbo will also boot Android 15-based ColorOS 15.0 right out of the box.
