Xiaomi is set to pull back the curtain on the Redmi 15 5G next month, with a big reveal scheduled for August 19 in India.
While Xiaomi is keeping some of the finer details under wraps, the Chinese tech giant has already teased a slew of key features for its upcoming midranger — from its camera hardware to its chipset, and even its massive battery and charging capabilities.
We’ve also caught a glimpse of its design and the vibrant color options it is set to arrive in. Speaking of which, the Redmi 15 5G will be available in three colors — Frosted White, Midnight Black, and Sandy Purple.
Under the hood, the Redmi 15 5G will arrive running Xiaomi’s Android 15-based HyperOS 2 custom overlay, powered by the rQualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 5G chipset. This mid-tier SoC, built on TSMC’s 6nm process, packs a familiar punch with its combination of Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 CPU cores, much like its predecessors.
The key differentiator this time around? A subtle bump in clock speeds, pushing the Cortex-A78s up to a maximum of 2.3GHz and the Cortex-A55s to 2.0GHz. Graphics duties are handled by an Adreno 619 GPU, solidifying the suspicion that this fairly new chip is, in essence, a slightly overclocked version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 5G from 2021.
The launch announcement for the Indian market
Unsurprisingly, HyperOS 2 on the Redmi 15 5G will embrace the AI revolution, shipping with features like Google’s Gemini and Circle to Search right out of the box. Beyond the brainpower, the smartphone is set to impress with a large 6.9-inch 144Hz display.
The battery life, in particular, looks very promising, thanks to a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery that even supports 18-watt reverse wired charging — potentially handy for juicing up your other gadgets. Xiaomi claims the Redmi 15 5G can deliver an astounding 13.5 hours of battery life with just a 1% charge when in Hibernation mode. For taking pictures, you get a dual-camera system on the rear, headlined by a capable 50-megapixel main sensor.
Leaked information suggests the Redmi 15 5G will feature a 2-megapixel secondary sensor on the back alongside an 8-megapixel selfie shooter up front. Expect to see 33-watt wired fast charging capabilities as well, plus an IP64-rated body for improved dust and water resistance, adding to the phone’s durability.
