It’s official: The ridiculously thin and light HONOR Magic V5 is finally making its way to the Philippines. HONOR is kicking things off with a preorder deal that’s hard to ignore.
The news broke via a social media post from local retailer Silicon Valley, which was subsequently confirmed by a repost from HONOR Philippines VP Stephen Cheng, lending it official weight. So what’s the deal?
For a limited time, those who preorder the Magic V5 will get a bundle of freebies worth over a whopping P18,000 (roughly $319). And we’re talking about serious tech gear, not just a case and a screen protector. The package includes these two:
- HONOR Pad X8a, valued at P7,999 ($142)
- DJI Neo Drone Camera, valued at P10,799 ($191)

Why is this foldable such a big deal? As we previously reported on its debut in China, the HONOR Magic V5, at least the Ivory White color variant, currently holds the crown as the world’s slimmest and lightest inward-folding smartphone.
How thin are we talking? The device measures a jaw-dropping 8.8mm when folded and an almost impossible 4.1mm when unfolded. That makes it slimmer than many traditional flagship phones even when it’s closed. The brand has essentially thrown down the gauntlet, challenging the very definition of what a foldable phone can be.
Don’t let the slim profile fool you into thinking it’s fragile, though. HONOR seems to have obsessed over durability. The Magic V5 comes with IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water resistance, a significant step up for foldables. The outer screen is protected by an Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield, while the inner display is reinforced with carbon fiber. At its core, the proprietary HONOR Super Steel Hinge boasts a tensile strength of 2300MPa, meaning it’s built to survive the chaos of your daily routine.
This is how thin the HONOR Magic V5 is
Perhaps the most impressive feat the company has pulled off is cramming a massive battery into the svelte chassis. The top-tier 1TB model features the industry’s first 6,100mAh HONOR Silicon-Carbon Battery. By using a high-silicon design, HONOR has achieved an unprecedented energy density, giving the Magic V5 the potential for all-day — and maybe even two-day — longevity that foldable users have only dreamed of. When you do need to juice up, it supports 66-watt wired and 50-watt wireless HONOR SuperCharge.
Powering this foldable beast is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 5G processor. Built on a 3nm process, the chip is engineered for top-tier performance and advanced on-device AI capabilities. This brings us to MagicOS 9.0.1, based on Android 15, which introduces the YOYO AI Agent. HONOR is pushing the “autopilot AI” era hard, claiming YOYO can create PowerPoints, write code, book a taxi, and even access your camera with simple commands.
On the imaging front, the HONOR AI Falcon Camera System is no slouch. It features a triple-camera array composed of a 50-megapixel wide camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide, and an upgraded 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. For selfies and video calls, you get a 20-megapixel camera on the cover screen and another 20-megapixel shooter on the inner display.
While Silicon Valley’s post didn’t reveal the official Philippine price, we can look at past trends for a clue. The HONOR Magic V5’s starting price in China of ¥8,999 converts to roughly P70,934 or $1,255. For context, last year’s HONOR Magic V3 launched locally at P89,999 ($1,593). We anticipate the Magic V5 will land in a similar premium bracket, but the freebie bundle certainly sweetens the pot for early adopters.
