You’re tired of paying for a mobile plan with data you don’t use and features you don’t need. A new mobile brand from Smart Communications called KiQ (pronounced “kick”) wants to fix that.

Launched today, August 8, KiQ is making waves as the Philippines’ first and only fully app-based service. Aimed squarely at Gen Zs and anyone who wants total control over their mobile life, KiQ lets you build your own mobile plan from scratch. That means you only pay for what you actually use, with no unnecessary add-ons or wasted data.

How does it work? Unlike traditional postpaid or prepaid plans, KiQ’s core feature is its slider interface in the KiQ app. This lets you be the architect of your own plan. You can do the following:

  • Slide to choose your data allocation. No more guesswork on how much data you’ll actually use.
  • Decide on calls and texts. If you’re a pure data user who relies on messaging apps, you can opt out of traditional call and text services.
  • Select your plan validity. Need a plan for just a week? Or maybe a whole month? You choose.
  • Pick your own mobile number. Yes, you can finally get that easy-to-remember number you’ve always wanted.

It’s all about freedom and flexibility, a concept that Smart chief operating officer Anastacio “Boy” R. Martirez says is what the future of mobile looks like. “With KiQ, we’re giving [Filipino Gen Zs] a mobile experience that puts them in full control — no wasted data, no unnecessary add-ons, just total freedom and flexibility,” he said in a statement.

A few pre-built plans to get you started

While the whole point of KiQ is personalization, it also offers some pre-configured plans if you just want to get up and running fast. These are just some examples of what you can put together:

  • KIQ ALL U CAN: For P940, you get unlimited data, calls, and texts for 28 days.
  • KIQ AZZ: For P350, you get 50GB of data, 35 minutes of calls, and 350 SMS — all good for 28 days.
  • KIQ ERR: For P100, you get 12GB of data, 10 minutes of calls, and 100 SMS, all valid for seven days.
  • KIQ YUM: For P50, you get 5GB of data, 5 minutes of calls, and 50 SMS, valid for three days.
  • KIQ START: Just P30 gets you 2GB of data, 3 minutes of calls, and 30 SMS.

Getting started is a ‘kick’

The entire KiQ experience is designed to be seamless and digital-first. To get started, all you need to do is download the KiQ app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. The brand is also taking a bold step by introducing QR-less eSIM activation. For a one-time fee of just P99 (roughly $1.74) for the KiQ eSIM, you can download and activate it directly from the app — no more scanning QR codes.

Once you’ve registered your eSIM, you can build your perfect plan and start using it immediately. You, as a KiQ subscriber, can then get a prioritized network experience in high-traffic areas. This should mean faster browsing and more reliable connections when you’re at a packed concert, a busy mall, or on campus during peak hours.

So, are you ready to kickstart your KiQ journey?
