HUAWEI and GCash have officially rolled out GCash Watch Pay support for iOS, allowing Apple users to make QR code payments directly from their HUAWEI smartwatches and fitness bands. Previously, the feature was exclusive to Android and HUAWEI devices.

So if you’re, say, an iPhone owner who has been wanting to use your HUAWEI wearable for more than just fitness tracking, you can now pay for your coffee, groceries, or commute with a simple flick of the wrist, without having to dig out your smartphone. It’s the kind of convenience that could change your daily routine, especially for those quick errands where you’d rather not carry a bulky wallet or even your handset.

How do you set it up? It’s pretty straightforward. Here’s a step-by-step guide for iOS device users:

  • Download the HUAWEI Health app. If you don’t have it already, grab it from the App Store.
  • Create a HUAWEI ID. Open the app and sign up for one, making sure to set your region to the Philippines.
  • Pair your wearable. Connect your HUAWEI smartwatch or fitness band to the HUAWEI Health app.
  • Install the GCash app on your wearable. Go to Settings > Payment and find and install the GCash app.
  • Link your GCash account. Open the GCash app on your wearable, enter your PIN, and a QR code will appear. Scan this QR code using the GCash app on your iOS unit and tap “Bind” to link your accounts.

And that’s it! You’re ready to start making payments from your wrist. The process is similar for Android and HUAWEI users, who can simply log in with their existing HUAWEI ID. This move by HUAWEI and GCash makes digital payments more inclusive, breaking down the walls between different ecosystems.
