HONOR isn’t messing around. The company today launched its new flagship series phones, the HONOR Magic8 Pro and HONOR Magic8, and the spec sheet is less a list of features and more a gauntlet thrown at the feet of its rivals. The core message is clear: more battery, more power, and more AI.
The star of the show, the Magic8 Pro, packs a huge 7,200mAh silicon-carbon battery in the Chinese model (though international buyers should expect a slightly smaller 6,270mAh capacity in Europe). That massive cell is backed by 120-watt wired and 80-watt wireless charging, aiming to eliminate battery anxiety in a world of power-hungry 3nm chips.
Speaking of chipsets, both the Pro and the standard Magic8 are powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. This is the new baseline for 2025 flagship performance, and HONOR is promising some AI-powered gaming magic to go with it, claiming its GPU-NPU super-resolution technology can boost a game from 60fps at 850p to 120fps at 1080p.
More than just megapixels and mAh
The other major headline is HONOR’s aggressive push into the “AI flagship” territory. The Magic8 series introduces the YOYO Agent, an assistant that HONOR claims can automatically execute complex, multi-step tasks across over 3,000 scenarios — from “Summarize this week’s work expenses and email them to my manager” to managing personal data in the new YOYO Memories feature.
To make sure you actually use this next-gen assistant, the brand has added a dedicated AI Button. One long-press activates the assistant for a YOYO video call (which analyzes what you point your camera at), while a double-click acts as a quick-access camera shutter. It’s a very physical solution to the digital fatigue of modern mobile assistants.

On the optics front, the HONOR Magic8 Pro boasts a seriously specced triple-camera array. It leads with a 50-megapixel main shooter, but the real star is the 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, offering 3.7x optical zoom with optical image stabilization. The company is leaning heavily on its AiMAGE Camera System to enhance stability, claiming a CIPA 5.5-level stabilization rating, which translates to seven times greater chance of a sharp zoomed shot without a tripod. The front is equally stuffed, featuring a dual 50-megapixel camera and a 3D sensor for secure face recognition.
The base Magic8 is also a powerhouse, though with a few expected downgrades. It gets a slightly smaller 6.58-inch quad-curved display (but the same brilliant 6,000-nit peak brightness and tough Giant Rhino Glass), a 7,000mAh battery with 90-watt wired charging, and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto at 3x optical zoom. Both run the new MagicOS 10.0, built on Android 16, complete with a “translucent visual design” — kind of familiar, no? — and an industry-topping IP68/IP69/IP69K durability rating.
The HONOR Magic8 starts at a launch price of ¥4,499 (roughly P36,663 in Philippine pesos and $630 in U.S. dollars) in China, while the Pro model begins at ¥5,699 (P46,441 or $798). The brand has promised an international release later this year, so we’ll soon see if these giant batteries and AI smarts are enough to truly shake up the global flagship market. And just to cap off the future-forward pitch, the launch concluded with a tease of an upcoming HONOR Robot Phone concept — because a regular phone just wasn’t enough.
