realme 15 Pro 5G: Top 5 features that put it in a ‘Pro’ league of its own

In Phones by Revu TeamLeave a Comment

realme‘s newest number series is here in the Philippines, bringing flagship vibes without the flagship price.

Without a “Pro Plus” model this time around, the realme 15 Pro 5G is the device carrying the weight of the new lineup on its shoulders, under immense pressure to deliver. Based on our extensive testing, it absolutely does, and then some. It’s an excellent all-rounder that proves you don’t need to break the bank for a truly top-tier experience.

So what exactly makes this phone tick? What are the key features that set it apart from the midrange pack and even allow it to playfully jab at some sub-flagship rivals? We’ve distilled all the tech, the design, and the raw performance into the top five features that make this model one of realme’s most compelling smartphone releases this year.

Triple 50-megapixel camera setup paired with AI smarts

The realme 15 Series 5G comes with the tagline “Live real in every shot,” and the Pro version doesn’t just echo that promise; it delivers on it, frame after frame. The main draw now is that the realme 15 Pro 5G boasts not one, but three 50-megapixel sensors — one for the main camera, one for the ultrawide, and one up front for selfies. You read that right. This is a huge leap from the previous generation’s single 50-megapixel shooter, putting flagship-level resolution across the board.

The primary camera features a Sony IMX896 sensor, backed by optical image stabilization for crisp, steady wide-angle and low-light shots. A pair of Omnivision OV50D sensors handle ultrawide and selfie duties. While the ultrawide lacks OIS, electronic image stabilization or EIS is more than enough to keep your 4K shots steady, even on the move.

And speaking of 4K, you can shoot 4K video at 60 frames per second on every single lens — main, ultrawide, and front. For content creators and travelers who love using their smartphone’s ultrawide and front cameras, this feature alone could be a game-changer, covering you from crisp wide-angle street shots to high-quality vlogging.

While having three high-resolution sensors in this price bracket is fantastic, realme is smartly putting equal emphasis on the phone’s AI capabilities. The realme 15 Pro 5G ships with some really useful, real-world features that simplify photo editing.

Take, for example, AI Smart Remover 2.0. We found this to have an incredibly effective person-recognition algorithm that effortlessly zaps unwanted objects or people from your images. That photobomber in the background of your perfect landscape shot? Gone. It’s like magic, but powered by intelligent software and capable hardware.

Perhaps the most interesting new addition is AI Edit Genie. The company describes it as “an industry-first voice-led photo-editing feature,” and this is truly what sets the smartphone apart from other editing tools out there. It actually takes voice commands and even supports 20 languages, including English and — surprise, surprise — Filipino!

We played around with AI Edit Genie and were genuinely impressed with what it can do, especially with simple voice prompts that require it to add or superimpose another object onto a photo. Want to add a dog or your favorite superhero into your picture? Just ask!

You can also use AI Edit Genie to enhance a picture by simply tapping the light-bulb icon in the bottom-right corner. It’s fine for quick, simple edits, like making colors pop in a landscape shot or turning a dull overcast sky into a vibrant blue.

Powerhouse performance plus flagship-grade cooling

A cutting-edge camera system demands serious horsepower to run those complex AI algorithms and handle 4K/60fps video processing, and the realme 15 Pro 5G delivers. This smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, built on an efficient 4nm process node.

In the Philippines, this chip is paired with a generous 12GB of physical RAM, ensuring multitasking is always fast and responsive. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor features an updated Kryo CPU with a 1+4+3 configuration, led by a Cortex-A20 prime core running at 2.8GHz, alongside four performance Cortex-720 cores at 2.4GHz and three efficiency Cortex-520 cores at 1.8GHz. Qualcomm claims a 27% faster CPU performance and a 30% GPU boost over the previous generation, and the numbers don’t lie.

Benchmarks-wise, the realme 15 Pro 5G has proven to be a capable performer. It scores near the top of its price bracket, even getting surprisingly close to some sub-flagship chips. Running the Antutu Benchmark, our device achieved more than a million points — a score that would have been reserved for pure flagships just a generation ago.

Benchmarks

Yet benchmarks are only half the story. In real-world use, this handset soars through most demanding tasks. App launches are instant, thanks in part to the slick optimizations in the Android 15-based realme UI 6.0 overlay. Games load quickly, and navigating the interface is buttery smooth. Multitasking, even with multiple apps loaded in the background alongside social media, Chrome, and YouTube, proved to be mostly hiccup-free. We had no trouble running demanding games like Genshin Impact, Destiny: Rising, and GRID: Autosport with all the graphics settings maxed out at 30 FPS or higher.

Thankfully, the brand included an effective cooling system with a large 7,000mm² vapor chamber, and it actually works; our review unit stayed warm but never unpleasantly hot even after an hour of intense gaming.

In 3DMark’s Wild Life Extreme and Solar Bay stress tests — which are designed to push mobile chipsets to their limits — the realme 15 Pro 5G posted a near-perfect score of 99% in both tests. This level of thermal efficiency is a rarity for any phone, regardless of its price point, and it highlights how efficiently the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 performs under heavy, sustained load.

Endurance king

Now, let’s talk about battery life. If the camera system is the brain and the chipset is the muscle, the battery is the lifeblood, and the realme 15 Pro 5G is a powerhouse in this regard. Despite its surprisingly slim profile (more on that later), this device packs a massive 7,000mAh cell. That’s a capacity you’d normally only see in a small tablet, or perhaps a phone that feels like a brick in your hand. And yet, somehow, realme has managed to integrate it seamlessly into the chassis. The efficiency of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 definitely plays a big part in its performance, but the giant battery backup obviously helps a lot, too.

Battery-rundown test

Our test results are simply staggering. In the PCMark battery-rundown benchmark, with the screen at half brightness and the refresh rate set to auto, the realme 15 Pro 5G clocked in at 19 hours and 30 minutes. That is, without a doubt, the highest mark we’ve seen all year from a midranger, setting a new benchmark for endurance in this category. In our own real-world use, which included a healthy mix of social media, heavy streaming, web browsing, and plenty of gaming, we consistently squeezed two days of battery life from a single charge. This phone simply refuses to die, giving you true power-user freedom.

When it’s finally time to top up that enormous cell, realme doesn’t skimp on speed. This Pro supports 80-watt SUPERVOOC fast charging. Using the bundled charger and cable, our unit was able to charge the battery completely in just 65 minutes, with an impressive 70% achieved in just 30 minutes. Make no mistake: That’s a fast charging speed for a battery of this size. You can essentially get a full day’s worth of power back in the time it takes to grab a cup of coffee and read the morning news.

Slim, sleek, and fun

Perhaps what’s equally impressive is that despite packing that enormous 7,000mAh battery, the realme 15 Pro 5G is about the same size and weight as its predecessor. It feels like a deliberate step back in time, but in a very positive way. The Flowing Silver variant is a razor-thin 7.79mm, and even the Velvet Green faux-leather version is only a hair thicker. Both weigh in at a perfectly normal 187 grams. This unit doesn’t feel like a brick, which is an impressive feat for a phone with a battery this big.

Meanwhile, the curved display and gentle curves on all four sides keep the profile incredibly slim, making it a joy to hold. This design is quite a triumph of engineering, swapping out the usual plastic back for a soft, comfortable faux-leather finish (on the green variant) that subtly curves into the smartphone’s reinforced frame. It feels good.

The craftsmanship here is indeed impressive, and it extends to the phone’s durability. The realme 15 Pro 5G is rated IP66, IP68, and IP69. This means the device can withstand being submerged in clear water with a depth of up to two meters for 30 minutes — and even pressure washing — adding to your peace of mind.

The design isn’t just tough, though; it’s also loaded with little extras that might come handy. realme threw in an IR blaster right on the top edge, a potential lifesaver if you’re always losing your TV remote. Around the back, the camera module features a large, circular LED ring light that cleverly doubles as a customizable notification light. You can light it up with a single color, a mix of colors, or keep it running all the time, at least until that massive battery gives out. It’s an eye-catching party trick that aligns with the smartphone’s fun “AI Party Phone” theme.

Flagship-level viewing experience

The improved AMOLED display on the realme 15 Pro 5G is a standout in its own right. The 6.8-inch curved-edge panel gets seriously bright — 1,800 nits of max brightness and a staggering 6,500 nits at peak. That kind of luminance means you won’t be squinting, even under the unforgiving glare of the Philippine sun.

The 1.5K resolution makes everything look razor-sharp, and with over a billion colors and HDR10 Plus support, you get beautiful, vibrant HDR streaming on apps like YouTube. Just take note that while the screen is rated for a 144Hz refresh rate, it will only hit 120Hz in most apps and games — still butter-smooth for all your scrolling and gaming needs. The front panel is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, so it’s built to resist scratches and minor bumps.
