For years, wrestling fans have waited for a proper mobile game that does justice to the popular WWE 2K franchise, and finally, it looks like Netflix Games has answered the call.
In a massive — and unexpected — move, the WWE 2K25: Netflix Edition has officially soft-launched, making the Philippines one of the first countries in the world to get its hands on the game.
While the full global launch for the Android and iOS version is scheduled for Fall 2025, Netflix decided to roll out the welcome mat in select markets. And true to the Netflix Games model, there are no hidden fees and absolutely zero in-app purchases. An active subscription is all you need!
WWE 2K25: Netflix Edition, created by Visual Concepts and brought to us by 2K, is built to feel like its PC and console counterpart. It boasts proper 3D graphics, authentic move sets, and even in-game commentary, which you can download separately. It also features a Career mode as well as two-player multiplayer options.
Here’s the full breakdown of the game, pulled directly from the Google Play Store listing:
- Choose your superstar. The mobile game features over 40 RAW and SmackDown Superstars. You can play as champions like Roman Reigns and Rhea Ripley or WWE Legends like The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
- Many modes of mayhem. The game offers serious replayability. You can rise through the ranks with your favorite WWE Superstar in Career mode or compete in a 1-on-1 or 2-on-2 PvP showdown.
- Brawl how you want to. Jump into single-player Quick Play matches in classic WWE formats, with adjustable difficulty for solo offline play, or join a real-time multiplayer bout with online matchmaking.
- Build toward victory. The Career mode lets you track every win. You can boost your Superstar’s stats with each clash and fight for WWE titles in a journey that tracks every win. Plus, you can unlock achievements by winning titles or climbing the multiplayer ranks.
Now for some not-so-good news. We’ve spent some time with WWE 2K25: Netflix Edition, installing it on flagship devices running silicon like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite and MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus chipsets, and we encountered a major issue: a framerate bug that makes the game run faster than intended. Since there are no framerate options in the settings, we can’t limit it to a smooth 30 FPS or 60 FPS for consistent gameplay.
We also learned that some people are unable to install the game at all. This is likely due to hardware limitations, similar to how certain graphically games like GRID Legends are hard-locked from devices that don’t meet a minimum requirement. That’s not surprising, though, considering how good the graphics look. We mean, just look at those screenshots! It’s no shock that a game requiring this level of visual fidelity also demands a high-end chipset to run it.
There’s a second — even bigger — dealbreaker for us: the lack of support for physical controllers at the moment. Any modern sports title needs robust controller support to deliver a console-quality experience.
Between the missing controller support and the need for a solid 60 FPS option, the current build is tough to recommend without reservations. Hopefully, Netflix Games will release a patch soon to fix the framerate and add controller support in the near future. We’re crossing our fingers, because based on the short time we’ve spent with it, WWE 2K25: Netflix Edition is a smackdown of fun.
