The HONOR Magic8 Pro is officially coming to global markets, and its first stop outside of China will be in Southeast Asia.
Teasers are popping up all over Malaysian social media, hinting at an imminent launch. But while the device has been confirmed to arrive “soon” in Malaysia, HONOR hasn’t pinned down an exact date yet. We’re stuck with the standard cryptic social media notice for now. There’s also no word if the base HONOR Magic8 will make its way outside of the Chinese mainland.
In related news, the HONOR Magic8 Pro has been tapped as the official “mobile photography device” for Malaysia’s Gegar Vaganza 2025, a music-focused reality show over there. But why Malaysia, you ask? Well, we’ve been told that our neighboring country is actually one of the company’s top markets when it comes to high-end devices, so it makes perfect sense.
To recap, the Magic8 Series debuted in China last month, bringing both a standard model and that beefy Pro variant. It’s the successor to last year’s Magic 7 line. Earlier this year, HONOR released the Magic7 Pro in the Philippines where the lone 12GB/512GB configuration fetched a P59,999 (roughly $1,024) price tag.
HONOR Magic8 Pro launch teaser in Malaysia
Sticking to its predecessor’s playbook, the HONOR Magic8 Pro is heavily pushing the “AI Phone” theme this year. The high-end model even boasts a new dedicated button for the brand’s YOYO AI assistant, though we expect that to be swapped out for Google Gemini when it lands internationally.
Based on what we know about the smartphone from its Chinese debut, the said model sports a 6.71-inch 1.5K OLED display that keeps things smooth at 120Hz. Powering this flagship is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and storage that maxes out at 1TB.
Camera-wise, it’s a triple threat. We’re looking at a 50-megapixel main shooter, a 50-megapixel ultrawide, and the big attraction — a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto that pulls off a solid 3.7x optical zoom. Selfies are handled by a 50-megapixel front camera. All of this runs on MagicOS 10, which is HONOR’s custom overlay on top of Android 16.
Rounding out the HONOR Magic8 Pro’s specs is a massive 7,200mAh battery, backed by relatively fast charging speeds — 100-watt wired and 80-watt wireless. That said, this unit should easily last a day, even with heavy usage.
