The OPPO Reno15 Pro and OPPO Reno15 are now on sale in China starting at ¥2,999 (roughly P24,780 in Philippine pesos or $422 in U.S. dollars), just days after their debut. With the lineup’s release, OPPO is making one thing clear: It aims to dominate pocket photography.

Usually, when you buy a non-flagship phone, you accept that the secondary cameras could be mediocre. You might get a good main lens, but the ultrawide is usually an afterthought, and the telephoto is often missing entirely. OPPO has thrown that playbook out the window.

The Reno15 Pro and Reno15 both feature a headline-grabbing 200-megapixel main camera (1/1.56-inch sensor) with optical image stabilization or OIS. But the supporting cast is what makes this interesting. The company has paired that large primary sensor with a 50-megapixel 3.5x periscope telephoto lens and a 50-megapixel ultrawide.

That is a huge deal. Having high-resolution sensors across the board means consistent color science and detail whether you are shooting a landscape, a street portrait, or zooming in on a subject from across the room. Even the front camera is a 50-megapixel shooter with auto-focus, ensuring your selfies remain tack-sharp.

The two smartphones are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 5G, ensuring the image signal processing has enough grunt to handle those massive 200-megapixel files. And yes, since you’ll be shooting a lot of photos, OPPO packed in massive batteries — 6,200mAh on the standard and 6,500mAh on the Pro — to keep the shutter snapping all day.

The OPPO Reno15 Pro takes the edge slightly with a larger 6.78-inch display and 50-watt wireless charging, but remarkably, the compact 6.32-inch standard model keeps almost all the same camera hardware.

If you are reading this from outside China, word has it that you’ll likely have to wait until roughly February to get your hands on one — and the camera system might look a little different when it arrives.

According to leaks from tipster Yogesh Brar, the global variant of the OPPO Reno15 might swap the headline 200-megapixel sensor for a new triple-50-megapixel setup.

While “200 megapixels” sounds bigger on a box, a switch to a triple 50-megapixel configuration (50-megapixel main + 50-megapixel tele + 50-megapixel ultra) isn’t bad news. In fact, it’s arguably a more balanced approach. Many enthusiasts prefer large-pixel 50-megapixel sensors over pixel-binned 200-megapixel ones for better low-light performance and natural bokeh.

The international model is also rumored to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 5G processor and may sport a slightly larger 6.59-inch screen. Regardless of the specific sensor swap, the core philosophy remains: OPPO is pushing a dedicated telephoto lens and high-res ultrawide into a price bracket where they are sorely needed.

With IP68/69 water resistance and the latest ColorOS 16 onboard, the OPPO Reno15 Series is shaping up to be an exciting “shutterbug” lineup.
