Maneater brings its open-world ‘ShaRkPG’ chaos to iOS, Android devices

If you’ve been waiting for mobile gaming to catch up with consoles, you’re having a great month. On the heels of Red Dead Redemption and Where Winds Meet making the jump to mobile devices, another heavy hitter has officially arrived on iOS and Android.

Maneater, the open-world action RPG that lets you terrorize the seas as a vengeful shark, is now available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play. While the game is listed at $9.99 globally, the regional pricing for the Philippines is pretty aggressive. You can pick it up for just P119, or roughly $2. Considering the sheer amount of content here, that’s an absolute steal!

Maneater is finally available for mobile devices

For those who missed its original console launch in 2020, Maneater is a self-proclaimed “ShaRkPG” (read: Shark RPG). You start as a small, vulnerable Bull Shark pup and must eat, explore, and evolve your way up the food chain. The single-player narrative builds toward sweet, bloody revenge against Scaly Pete, the fisherman who killed your mother.

The mobile port brings the full single-player campaign to your phone, including the following:

  • Massive open world. You’ll navigate seven distinct regions of the Gulf Coast, from swampy bayous and industrial docks to resort beaches full of unsuspecting tourists.
  • Deep customization: Evolve your shark with “Bio-Electric” spikes, “Shadow Armor,” and external bone plates to create an apex predator that defies nature.
  • Star power. The entire story is set against the backdrop of a reality TV show, narrated by the legendary Chris Parnell (Rick and Morty, Saturday Night Live), whose dry wit makes the carnage surprisingly funny.
  • Touch controls are available via a virtual stick and action buttons, but purists can also rely on controller support. That means you can pair an Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch gamepad with your device to get the proper console experience.

And for those worried about specs, there is no need to gamble your money. You can download Maneater’s “Try & Buy” version to check performance and play the early stages for free, then unlock the full version via an in-app purchase if it runs smoothly.
