Fresh off the international release of the OnePlus 15, the OPPO sub-brand is back at it again. Meet the OnePlus 15R, the first smartphone to hit the global market powered by the brand-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.
Preorders for the newly launched smartphone are live across North America, Europe, and India. And you can choose your weapon: Charcoal Black or Mint Breeze.
Here is how the OnePlus 15R pricing breaks down internationally:
- 12GB RAM/256GB storage: $699 (around P40,962), ₹47,999 in India
- 12GB RAM/512GB storage: $729 (P42,723), ₹52,999 in India
As for the Philippines, we’re still playing the waiting game, with Digital Walker — the brand’s official local distributor — yet to announce preorders or pricing for the OnePlus 15R. For context, the OnePlus 15 was previously listed at P49,990 ($853) for the 12GB/256GB model and P54,990 ($939) for the 16GB/512GB variant, so given the “R” series’ positioning as the more affordable line, the 15R is expected to come in lower if and when it launches locally.
If you aren’t familiar with OnePlus‘ naming scheme, the “R” suffix indicates a more budget-friendly alternative to the flagship number series. Think of it as the practical cousin. You’re still getting the core OnePlus experience, but with a few strategic cutbacks on the display, cameras, and chipset to keep the price tag a bit more grounded.
This is the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 smartphone
The headline feature here is undoubtedly that silicon. The 15R is debuting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile platform globally. While this SoC technically sits a step below last year’s top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, it’s designed to hit that sweet spot of high efficiency and advanced AI capabilities without the flagship premium.
For the most part, the hardware mirrors the OnePlus Ace 6T, a model exclusive to the Chinese market. You’re looking at a 6.83-inch FHD+ LTPS AMOLED panel with a 165Hz variable refresh rate, all shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
One notable exception is the battery. While the Ace 6T packs a massive 8,300mAh unit, the global OnePlus 15R model scales that down to a 7,400mAh silicon-carbon cell. It’s still huge by industry standards, but it’s a notable drop. Charging speeds also take a slight hit, capping out at 80-watt wired charging compared to the OnePlus Ace 6T’s 100-watt standard.
