It’s official: The HONOR X9d 5G is launching in the Philippines on Jan. 9.
As the successor to last year’s HONOR X9c 5G — easily one of the company’s most successful devices on the local market — the expectations are high. HONOR is already teasing the HONOR X9d 5G as its “toughest phone yet,” but that’s probably not a surprise if you’re familiar with its predecessor. You might recall that the X9c went viral for the sheer abuse it could take, surviving durability tests that would shatter most smartphones.
This year, HONOR is doubling down on that reputation. The HONOR X9d 5G will arrive with an IP69K rating. That “K” is important, as it means the device isn’t just resistant to a dunk in the pool; it has been tested against high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. Combined with a shock-absorbing middle frame designed to withstand bumps and drops, the X9d 5G feels purpose-built for delivery riders, road warriors, and, well, clumsy owners.

HONOR’s ‘toughest phone yet’
HONOR is even teasing the X9d against a Tesla Cybertruck in its marketing, underscoring just how confident it is in the phone’s durability. While the brand hasn’t officially announced that it’s giving away a Cybertruck, spotted promotional materials suggest that those who preorder may have a chance to win one. It’s a bold move that adds extra intrigue to the launch.
HONOR X9d 5G vs Tesla Cybertruck?
But while durability gets the headlines, the other highlight this year is something everyone can greatly benefit from: battery life.
The HONOR X9d 5G is rated with a massive 8,300mAh silicon-carbon battery. For context, that is significantly larger than the standard 5,000mAh cells we see in most flagships, as well as the X9c 5G’s 6,600mAh cell. HONOR said this battery can last for three days on a single charge, or about 23 hours of continuous video playback.
On the front, you’re looking at a 6.79-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, which is rated at up to 6,000 nits peak brightness. Under the hood, it is equipped with Qualcomm’s 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset paired with an Adreno 810 GPU, 12GB of RAM, and either 256GB or 512GB of storage.
That processor choice represents a huge jump from last generation’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip. It should provide significantly more firepower for running high-quality, open-world games like Where Winds Meet without stuttering. The software front is covered by MagicOS 9.0 on top of Android 15.
The back of the X9d 5G features the same circular camera cutout as the X9c 5G, retaining the 108-megapixel main camera and 5-megapixel ultrawide combo. The front-facing selfie camera, too, stays at 16 megapixels.
Local pricing remains a mystery for now. However, looking back at last year, the X9c 5G launched in the Philippines with a P16,990 (around $289) price tag for the lone 12GB/256GB variant. In other markets, the HONOR X9d 5G is available in Reddish Brown, Midnight Black, Sunrise Gold, and Forest Green, and we expect to see similar options when it hits local shelves.
