HONOR is making another aggressive play for the young segment with the official release of the HONOR X8d in the Philippines. Positioned heavily toward students and the lifestyle crowd, the device attempts to balance an industrial, premium-looking design with the kind of battery life that usually requires a much thicker phone.

As HONOR Philippines VP Stephen Cheng put it, the X8d is meant to prove you don’t have to spend a fortune to stay connected. At ₱15,999 (roughly $266), it’s positioned to do exactly that. The preorder window opens today, March 19, and runs through March 27. HONOR is sweetening the deal for early birds with a free Camping Light Speaker bundled in. If you’re ready to lock one in, you’ll find the phone on HONOR’s official storefronts across Lazada, Shopee, and TikTok Shop.

While we are currently putting the finishing touches on our review of the device, the on-paper specifications show exactly where the company is placing its bets here. The biggest hardware flex is the battery. HONOR managed to engineer a large 7,000mAh power cell into a chassis that measures just 7.5mm thick. Typically, smartphones with batteries this large feel like bricks in your pocket, making the X8d a legitimate multiday workhorse without the usual bulk. To keep it durable, HONOR secured an SGS 5-star rating for drop resistance, meaning it should survive a two-meter tumble.

Our HONOR X8d unboxing video

The display is another area where the HONOR X8d punches above its weight class. It features a 6.77-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. That kind of brightness guarantees the screen will be legible outdoors in direct midday sunlight. Under the hood, this model is powered by a 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 processor paired with an Adreno 610 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.

For photography, HONOR skipped a dedicated telephoto lens and instead equipped the X8d with a 108-megapixel primary camera that relies on 3x lossless zoom for tighter shots. That main sensor is flanked by a 5-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel macro shooter, while a 16-megapixel front camera handles selfies. It also includes 45-watt fast charging, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and a dedicated physical AI Button to quickly trigger MagicOS features like Magic Portal.
