OPPO Find X9 Ultra to debut globally April 21

Last week, we reported that OPPO teased a global release for the much-anticipated OPPO Find X9 Ultra. Now, the exact date is locked in: April 21. This is a huge milestone, marking the very first time the company is bringing an Ultra-branded model to the international market.

But it didn’t stop at the date. It also took to social media to officially confirm one of the smartphone’s biggest draws: a 50-megapixel dedicated periscope lens capable of true 10x optical zoom.

While that 10x shooter is now a certainty, a new leak has filled in the rest of the spec sheet. If the latest reports hold true, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra isn’t just taking a swing at heavyweights; it’s trying to knock them out entirely with raw physical hardware.

Built-in teleconverter expected?

The undisputed star of the show is the rear camera array. Flanking the officially confirmed 10x periscope, the brand is said to be packing in dual 200-megapixel sensors: a 1/1.12-inch Sony LYT-901 for the main camera and an OmniVision sensor for a 3x short telephoto.

Instead of relying heavily on in-sensor cropping and AI-assisted digital zoom — a trend dominating the flagship space — OPPO’s approach uses a “Quintuple Prism Reflection Periscope.” By bouncing light five times across three elements, the brand achieves extreme physical zoom while reducing the camera module’s footprint by 33%. A 50-megapixel ultra-wide rounds out the quad-camera setup, complete with that signature Hasselblad color tuning.

Under the hood, the rest of the hardware is equally aggressive. The OPPO Find X9 Ultra will reportedly be powered by Qualcomm’s top-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 5G processor. Keeping the lights on is a 7,050mAh silicon-carbon battery supported by 100-watt wired and 50-watt wireless charging. All of this sits behind a 6.82-inch flat AMOLED display.

Launch date announcement for the OPPO Find X9 Ultra

Perhaps the most important detail for international buyers is the software. Because this is a confirmed global release, the device will ship with a fully localized version of ColorOS based on Android 16. That means proper support for Android Auto, Western banking apps, and reliable push notifications right out of the box.

With the OPPO Find N6 foldable phone already expected to hit local shores soon, a Philippine release for the Find X9 Ultra is looking increasingly plausible. We’ll know exactly what OPPO has up its sleeve when the curtains officially go up on April 21.
