Xiaomi fans have something to look forward to later this month. We’ve just received word that the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A will be launched in the Philippines on July 18, a month after the said budget phones debuted in their native China.

Recall that the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A successors were launched with a base price of ¥599 (around P4,808 or $90) to appeal to smartphone buyers in China’s entry-level segment. The most expensive configuration of the Redmi 6 — the one with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM — debuted at ¥999 (P8,025 or $150).

It remains to be seen how much the devices will officially cost once they end up here, but we’re positive the local prices will closely echo those announced for the Chinese market. In the Philippines, the Redmi 5A first arrived with a price tag of P4,390 ($82).

In terms of looks, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A are virtually identical, except on the back where the former sees a fingerprint reader and dual cameras with 12- and 5-megapixel resolutions. Both devices come with a 5.45-inch, 1,440 x 720 LCD display and MediaTek-based internals coupled with a 3,000mAh battery.
