The POCO C40 is scheduled to launch globally June 16. But surprise, surprise! It’s now official in Vietnam.

(Update, July 13: The brand has announced the POCO C40’s price and availability for the Philippine market!)

The smartphone has been announced for the Vietnamese market with a price tag of ₫3,490,000 (roughly P7,951 or $151). However, retailers are only accepting registrations of interest at this time; the device will go on sale in the country June 17.

Unlike other handsets from brands under Xiaomi‘s wings, the POCO C40 is equipped with an entry-level chipset — the 11nm JR10 — from a relatively unknown chip maker, China’s JLQ. The SoC is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Among the phone’s highlights is a 6,000mAh battery with support for 18-watt fast charging, so an all-day battery life and a quick top-up of the cell are possible. It also comes with a 60Hz LCD screen that measures 6.71 inches, has a waterdrop notch, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass; a 13-megapixel dual rear camera; a 5-megapixel selfie shooter; a back-mounted fingerprint sensor; and Android 11-based MIUI 13.

The C40’s rear actually looks premium, at least based on the official mages we’ve seen — as it’s covered with faux leather. We love that it comes in POCO Yellow.

We’re not sure yet if the POCO C40 will become available in the Philippines, but our guess is it will, given that our market is a price-sensitive one.
