Samsung‘s new Galaxy A16 phones are officially hitting the Philippine market, bringing a fresh wave of affordability and style to the budget-friendly A series.

The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G, priced at P13,990 (around $239) for 8GB of physical RAM and 256GB of storage, is available now at local retail, while its LTE-only sibling will drop on December 4 for P9,990 ($170).

As you can probably tell, both versions embrace the South Korean technology giant’s signature design language, boasting sleek curves and a minimalist “floating” camera setup. The 5G model comes in classic Blue Black and Gold, while the 4G version offers Black and Grey colorways, plus a vibrant Light Green colorway exclusive to online shoppers.

Despite the difference in connectivity, the two A16 variants share nearly identical specs and design, with the processor being the primary differentiator. Samsung promises an enhanced user experience with both models, emphasizing immersive visuals and a smooth, reliable performance — all at a price that won’t break the bank.

Specs-wise, the Galaxy A16 5G uses the company’s own 5nm Exynos 1330 processor with Mali-G68 graphics, while the 4G model is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 4G SoC, the same chip as its predecessor, the Galaxy A15. Both feature a triple-camera setup at the rear, sporting a 50-megapixel main image sensor and dedicated lenses for ultrawide and macro shots. They also share 6.7-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ displays with a 90Hz refresh rate and up to 800 nits of brightness and 5,000mAh batteries that support fast charging up to 25 watts.

The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G ships with One UI 6.1 based on Android 14, and like the LTE variant, it will also receive six OS upgrades, to go along with six years of security updates. You get an IP54 dust- and water-resistance rating, too.
