OnePlus has just lifted the veil on its latest Nord series flag-bearers, the OnePlus Nord 5 and OnePlus Nord CE5, marking their global debut today, July 8. And good news for Filipino fans: Both devices are officially making their way to the Philippines, with preorders kicking off tomorrow, July 9.
The Nord series has always been about bringing premium experiences to a more accessible price point, and the fifth generation seems to double down on that philosophy. OnePlus is clearly aiming to disrupt the midrange with some genuinely compelling specs, though with a few intriguing regional quirks.
OnePlus Nord 5
Let’s start with the Nord 5, the more powerful of the duo. Here, OnePlus went with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, an underclocked but still capable version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It’s paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage, so on paper, the smartphone should be able to chew through demanding games and multitasking with ease.
The display is also a standout, literally. It’s a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution, peaking at a bright 1,800 nits. This is a first for a OnePlus phone, and honestly, a 144Hz screen in this segment is a welcome surprise. For protection, you’re getting Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, which is a nice touch.
On the optics front, the Nord 5 borrows some serious tech from its more expensive siblings. The rear features a 50-megapixel main shooter (Sony LYT-700) with optical image stabilization, alongside an 8-megapixel ultrawide. Up front, there’s a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 selfie camera that boasts auto-focus, a feature often overlooked even in higher-end phones. Both front and back can record 4K video at 60fps, and OnePlus is bringing its RAW HDR and Real Tone exposure algorithms from the OnePlus 13 series, promising more natural and vibrant photos.

Where things get a bit interesting is the battery. While Asian markets, hopefully including the Philippines, are getting a hefty 6,800mAh cell with 80-watt wired charging, regions like the United Kingdom and Europe will see a scaled-back 5,200mAh capacity. This is apparently due to EU regulations on battery shipping, a similar situation we saw with last year’s Nord CE4. Still, 80-watt SuperVOOC charging is no slouch, and there’s even 5-watt reverse wired charging for topping up accessories.
OnePlus is also leaning heavily into AI with the Nord 5, thanks to its new OnePlus AI suite powered by Google Gemini. Features like AI Eraser, AI Summary, and AI Reply are all on board, along with the Open Canvas multitasking interface from the OnePlus Open. Oh, and the alert slider is gone, replaced by Plus Key, a programmable button reminiscent of the Apple iPhone 16’s Action Button. It is designed to access Mind Space, a new “second brain” feature for summarizing information and recalling notes.
Design-wise, the OnePlus Nord 5 moves to a glass back and plastic mid-frame, a departure from the Nord 4’s all-metal build. It comes in Marble Sands, Dry Ice, and Phantom Grey, offering some understated yet elegant aesthetics.

OnePlus Nord CE5
If the Nord 5 is the performance darling, the Nord CE5 is positioned as the endurance champion. The headline feature here is undoubtedly the massive 7,100mAh battery, a capacity usually reserved for smaller tablets. OnePlus claims ridiculous usage times: over 27 hours of YouTube, 18+ hours of Instagram, and 9+ hours of gaming. Like its sibling, it supports 80-watt SuperVOOC wired charging, along with bypass charging for those intense gaming sessions where you want to power the phone directly. Again, we expect the larger battery for the Philippine market, with Europe getting a 5,200mAh version.
All good things take time. And the #OnePlusNordCE5 with its 7100mAh will be there with you, every step of the way, no matter the distance.

Showcasing the 7,100mAh battery!
Under the hood, the OnePlus Nord CE5 runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset, paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, which is also expandable via microSD.
The display is a 6.77-inch AMOLED with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, hitting 1,430 nits peak brightness. For cameras, you’re looking at a 50-megapixel main shooter (Sony LYT-600) with OIS and an 8-megapixel ultrawide, while selfies are handled by a 16-megapixel Sony IMX480 camera. It also gets the OnePlus 13 series’ RAW HDR and Real Tone algorithms.
This model, like the Nord 5, runs OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15 and benefits from the company’s AI features, though it misses out on Mind Space. OnePlus is also promising a generous four years of Android platform updates and six years of security patches, which is excellent for a midrange device. For build, the CE5 opts for an all-plastic construction for both the back and mid-frame, and it comes in Black Infinity, Marble Mist, and Nexus Blue.
