HONOR just dropped something that’s less about a revolution and more about endurance. The HONOR X70, officially unveiled in China, comes packing an absolutely massive 8,300mAh battery — a figure that puts most flagships, and even some tablets, to shame. And even with that huge power pack, the company has managed to keep the X70 remarkably svelte.
So yes, the battery is the headline act here. HONOR is leaning heavily into this, calling it its “third-generation silicon-carbon battery” and touting a six-year durability. For anyone who’s ever suffered from mid-day battery anxiety, the X70 promises to be a welcome relief. And for the 512GB model, there’s a neat trick up its sleeve: 80-watt wireless superfast charging, a feature rarely seen in this segment. Wired charging, by the way, is also 80 watts across the board.
Beyond the battery, the HONOR X70 sports a rather impressive 6.79-inch 1.5K AMOLED display. It’s got a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and an eye-watering peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits. Yes, you read that right. Six thousand nits. That’s a ridiculous number, and it should make this screen incredibly visible even under the harsh Philippine sun.
Under the hood, you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, paired with up to 12GB of RAM. It’s running Android 15 with the brand’s MagicOS 9.0 on top. While the Snapdragon 6 series isn’t exactly a performance powerhouse, it’s a solid midrange chip that should handle daily tasks and light gaming with ease. The focus here clearly isn’t raw power, but rather a balanced experience with unparalleled longevity.

An unboxing and durability test in China
HONOR also seems to have gone all-in on durability. The X70 boasts an “industry’s first gold label three-proof certification” and SGS five-star reliability. What does that mean for you? The device is apparently built like a tank, featuring a bulletproof vest structure and aerospace-grade cushioning material. Think 2.5-meter drop resistance and an IP69K dust- and water-resistance rating. That’s not a typo — IP69K means it can withstand high-pressure water jets and even boiling water. You can even use the display in heavy rain or with gloves, and there’s an AI assistant to help discharge water from the smartphone.
For photography, the HONOR X70 keeps things simple with a single 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization or OIS on the back, and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter up front. It is a pragmatic choice, likely prioritizing battery life and durability over a complex multi-camera setup.
The newly launched X series model is already on preorder in China, with shipping scheduled for July 18. Pricing starts at ¥1,399 (roughly P11,133 or $195) for the 8GB/128GB version, topping out at ¥1,999 (P15,907 or $279) for the 12GB/512GB variant with wireless charging. There’s no official word on global availability yet, so we’re not sure if this battery beast will make its way beyond China’s borders.
