We at Revü have been tracking the HUAWEI Pura 80 Series closely, bringing you the news of its August 8 arrival in the Philippines more than a week ago, on the day we flew to Thailand to cover its Asia-Pacific debut. Now, with the press release hitting our inboxes, HUAWEI is giving us the nitty-gritty on how you can get your hands on these flagships.
While the press release spotlights only the HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra and HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro, giving us the impression that the standard Pura 80 might arrive at a later date, what’s been revealed for these two models means Philippine consumers won’t have to wait much longer to experience the company’s latest mobile photography innovations.
Your guide to getting the HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra or HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro
HUAWEI is making it easier than ever to secure one of its new imaging powerhouses. The Ultra and Pro models in the lineup are scheduled to be available in the Philippines this month, and there are a few key dates and promotions you’ll want to mark on your calendar:
- Exclusive preview events (happening now!). Want to see these devices up close before the launch? You’re in luck. The brand is hosting exclusive preview events at 3 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday until August 10. These are taking place in 40 select HUAWEI Experience Stores across the country. This is your chance to get a feel for the smartphones, check out their designs, and maybe even take a few test shots. Make sure to check HUAWEI’s official channels for the link to participating stores and to register for your slot.
- Early-deposit discount. If you want to be among the first and save some cash, you can pay a P500 (roughly $9) deposit for either the HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra or HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro until August 6. This secures you a significant P3,000 ($51) discount when you complete your remaining balance payment, which can be done from August 7 to August 28. This means you’ve got a window to lock in that saving.
- Early-bird vouchers. Beyond the deposit, there are also early-bird vouchers up for grabs. You can collect P2,000 ($34) vouchers for both phones on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop. If you prefer to shop directly, these vouchers will also be available on the HUAWEI Online Store beginning August 7. These stack on top of the deposit discount, so make sure you get them.
A quick recap: What makes the HUAWEI Pura 80 Series special
The new Pura units are generating much buzz. And why not? The HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra, in particular, stands out with the industry’s first Switchable Dual Telephoto Camera. We’re not just talking about optical zoom (3.7x and 9.4x); we’re also referring to an intricate mechanical system that lets two different telephoto lenses share a single, large 1/1.28-inch sensor. The promised result? Cinematic portraits and dramatically sharp closeups, even in challenging lighting, thanks to increased light intake and advanced processing. Its main shooter is also a 1-inch Ultra Lighting HDR Camera designed to capture detail across vast dynamic ranges, even in fast-moving scenes or extreme lighting.

Meanwhile, the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro comes equipped with an Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto Camera that lets you get incredibly close — up to 5cm — to subjects with clarity courtesy of its large f/2.1 aperture. It features a 1-inch Ultra Lighting Camera for its main sensor as well.
Both the Ultra and Pro models boast a refined Forward Symbol design, drawing inspiration from luxury jewelry, and are built with impressive durability in mind. The Ultra features second-generation Crystal Armor Kunlun Glass for enhanced scratch and drop resistance, while the Pro gets second-gen Kunlun Glass, both offering robust protection alongside IP69 and IP68 dust and water resistance.
If you’re ready to upgrade your mobile photography game, then we suggest that you don’t miss out on those early bird deals and the chance to see them firsthand at the exclusive preview events.
