Infinix HOT 60 Pro+ first impressions: ‘Paper-thin,’ but is it in?

In a market saturated with so-called flagship killers and budget-friendly contenders, Infinix has consistently carved out its niche by pushing boundaries, particularly when it comes to design.

Last year, the company surprised us with the Infinix HOT 50 Pro+, a budget phone that defied expectations with its remarkably sleek and lightweight design — and equally “lightweight” pricing. We found ourselves wondering how the company could possibly top it in the next iteration. Now, we have our answer — and Infinix has, against all odds, managed to exceed those expectations once again.

Redefining ‘thin is in’

The Infinix HOT 60 Pro+ pushes the dimensions of its predecessor even further, coming in at an astonishing 5.95mm thin and weighing just 155 grams. Locally, the phone is available in a variety of colors, namely Sleek Black, Titanium Silver, Misty Violet, and Coral Tides.

The brand boldly calls it “paper thin,” and claims this is the “world’s slimmest 3D-curved-screen AI phone” — a truly audacious assertion, especially given its accessible sub-P9,000 (roughly $156) price point. Unsurprisingly, the HOT 60 Pro+ is also Infinix’s lightest curved-screen smartphone to date.

To put its under-6mm sleekness into perspective, we stacked our review unit next to a handful of credit cards; it’s roughly six cards thick. Placed beside three Philippine-peso coins, the Infinix HOT 60 Pro+ is about the same in terms of thickness. We simply can’t overstate how impressive these dimensions are, particularly in this segment. You’re looking at a device that’s noticeably slimmer than all other ultrapremium phones on the market right now, including the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max and the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 when folded.

So, how did Infinix achieve such an unprecedentedly slim profile for the HOT 60 Pro+? According to the company, this exceptional space efficiency is thanks to an innovative Maximized Structured Space design. This approach allows for a highly streamlined layout for more than 1,100 internal components. Imagine a microscopic game of Tetris, where almost every single internal piece has been meticulously arranged to maximize every cubic millimeter.

Additionally, Infinix applied customized ultraslim solutions to critical components. This includes the motherboard, the under-display fingerprint reader, the battery, the vapor chamber cooling system, the JBL-tuned dual speakers (yes, this model offers stereo sound!), the USB-C port, and even the 8-megapixel front-facing camera. A new ultrathin 3D fiberglass back panel also plays a significant role, helping to reduce the overall thickness by 12.5% compared to the previous generation. We’re told this latter component, which measures a mere 0.3mm thick, is built from three stacked layers, making it 20% thinner than conventional 0.45mm panels.

The HOT 60 Pro+ isn’t just a testament to clever engineering, though. Infinix also wants to assure us that this handset is built to last. From the internal frame to the front glass and the back panel, every part of the device has been reinforced to resist damage. Notably, the inner side of the Infinix HOT 60 Pro+’s unibody middle frame now uses reinforced aerospace-grade aluminum. This material boasts 1.16 times the hardness and 1.12 times the thickness of the previous generation, significantly improving structural strength, enhancing drop resistance, and increasing overall durability.

The brand has likewise opted for Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i this time around to protect the Infinix HOT 60 Pro+’s expansive 6.78-inch curved AMOLED panel. Compared to the HOT 50 Pro+, the screen on the new model offers up to two times better drop resistance and three times better scratch resistance, based on data from Corning and Infinix’s own lab tests.

The HOT 60 Pro+ aced Infinix’s demanding 1.5-meter directional drop test and survived free-fall impacts from all sides onto marble, cement, and tile, emerging unscathed. It also passed rigorous durability tests for curved screens, including tumble and soft pressure. Plus, with its IP65 certification, it offers significantly better dust and water resistance than the HOT 50 Pro+’s IP54 rating.

Finally, the thin fiberglass back panel has been upgraded, now offering four times the bending resistance of the previous composite version. All these improvements point to one clear conclusion: Despite its seemingly delicate appearance, the Infinix HOT 60 Pro+ is engineered to handle the rigors of daily life — and then some.

Around the back, the familiar “floating” camera array returns, now updated with Infinix’s Active Halo Lighting — an LED ring surrounding the bottom lens. This eye-catching LED ring surrounds the bottom-most lens, offering six intelligent lighting effects for various scenarios, from charging to notifications and even launching a game. It’s a nice touch that elevates the smartphone’s otherwise minimalist aesthetic.

Sleekness without compromise?

Of course, the HOT 60 Pro+ isn’t just an ultrasleek and durable phone. Infinix continues its streak of defying expectations on the hardware front. This time, the company has packed a larger battery with significantly faster charging than its predecessor. This model arrives equipped with a 5,160mAh cell and supports 45-watt fast charging using the included power brick and cable.

And while it doesn’t use silicon battery technology, the Infinix HOT 60 Pro+ has still achieved an impressive energy density of 810 Wh/L. This translates to 1.08 times more usable power than the HOT 50 Pro+, all while reducing the battery’s thickness by 0.36mm.

Beyond its greater capacity and charging speed, this battery is also engineered for longevity. Infinix claims that even after 1,800 full charge cycles — roughly five years of typical use — the battery is projected to retain over 80% health in lab simulations.

Meanwhile, our own initial battery tests yielded promising results. The device’s power pack effortlessly endured a full day of typical use, comprising web and social media scrolling, video streaming, and even a bit of gaming.

The sustained performance is equally impressive. The Infinix HOT 60 Pro+ manages to keep its cool under pressure, even when pushed with demanding tasks. During intensive benchmarks, the smartphone never throttled below 76% of its maximum performance in the CPU Throttling Test app. In 3DMark’s Wild Life and Steel Nomad Light stress tests, our unit consistently maintained over 98% stability — a remarkable feat for any handset, especially one this thin.

Software-wise, the Infinix HOT 60 Pro+ runs the company’s newest Android 15-based XOS custom overlay, which is now smarter, letting you quickly get answers and search your screen with ease thanks to the integration of Google’s Gemini AI and the convenient Circle to Search function.
