Get ready to put your phone through the wringer. HONOR is officially dropping the HONOR X9d 5G globally — in Malaysia specifically — on September 24, a device the company is billing as the new king of durability. Following in the tough-as-nails footsteps of its predecessors, the X9d comes with a laundry list of upgrades and some genuinely wild claims about its ability to survive a beating.
The headline here is clearly the durability. HONOR is going all in, and they have the certifications to back it up. The HONOR X9d 5G is the industry’s first with an SGS Triple-Resistant Premium Performance Certification, which is basically a fancy way of saying it’s designed to be a tank. It’s also got an industry-leading IP69K rating, meaning it can shrug off high-pressure water, steam, and dust — the kind of stuff you’d find in a seriously rugged environment.
To prove its point, HONOR reportedly put the smartphone through some truly insane tests, including getting hit with a plasma cannon and getting shot at with an industrial air-nail gun. The handset reportedly walked away from both without a scratch.

Beyond the bulletproof body, the HONOR X9d 5G packs some serious specs. The most notable is the massive 8,300mAh silicon-carbon battery, which the brand says is the largest in the industry. It’s designed to go the distance, outlasting 20 other phones in a recent test and even reverse-charging a neon LED board.
If the X9d is indeed a tweaked global version of the China-only HONOR X70 as some reports suggest, then we can also expect a 6.79-inch, 120Hz AMOLED display with a ridiculous 6,000 nits peak brightness, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, and a 108-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization or OIS.

While the full details and local price won’t be revealed until the launch, the HONOR X9d 5G is positioned as a significant step up from its predecessor, the HONOR X9c 5G, which was a hit in the Philippines for its own durability, large 6,600mAh battery, and accessible P16,999 (roughly $298) price tag. The upcoming model’s improved features, particularly its enhanced toughness and even bigger battery, show that HONOR is doubling down on a formula that clearly works. The phone will be available in eye-catching Reddish Brown and Sunlight Gold, and given the X9c’s success locally, it’s a safe bet we’ll see the X9d arriving in the Philippines, too.
