Mark your calendars, because the chase for the ultrathin smartphone just got real in the Philippines. TECNO has confirmed the official local launch of the TECNO SPARK Slim on October 8, bringing its impossibly slender design and eye-catching features to the local market. We’ll have our review dropping around the same time.

For months, the SPARK Slim has been turning heads, first as a concept device at MWC and then with its official global reveal at IFA. It’s rewriting the rulebook on phone design, and it’s doing it without compromising on the essentials. Here are the core highlights you need to know:

  1. At a razor-thin 5.93mm and weighing just 156 grams, the TECNO SPARK Slim is in a different league entirely. It’s the world’s slimmest 3D-curved phone at launch.
  2. Despite its skeletal frame, TECNO has crammed a large 5,160mAh battery inside, complete with 45-watt Super Charge support. This feat is possible thanks to the brand’s proprietary Honeycomb Space Stacking technology, which optimizes internal space by 12%.
  3. Moving away from a boring camera bump, the SPARK Slim features the Mood Light Design — two circular camera rings that double as dynamic notification lights. TECNO teased this feature on social media today, noting its “playful glow” that uses light animations for calls, alerts, and charging to convey moods, adding a genuinely unique touch.

Philippine launch date announced

Beyond its head-turning chassis, the TECNO SPARK Slim is a well-specced entry-level contender. It’s built around a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 1.5K resolution. It can hit 4,500 nits of peak brightness, making it great for outdoor visibility. Powering the 4G-only device is the MediaTek Helio G200, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage — though we’re not sure yet what exact memory configurations will be available in the country. It also includes a dedicated 0.3mm vapor chamber for heat dissipation, a necessary addition for a phone this thin.

The SPARK Slim features a dual rear camera system led by a 50-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel secondary lens, while a 13-megapixel camera handles selfies. Importantly for a super-slim device, the company has prioritized durability. The SPARK Slim is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on the display, boasts IP64 water and dust resistance, and has even passed MIL-STD-810H military-grade shock-resistance tests.

Out of the box, the smartphone runs on HiOS 15, which is based on Android 15, and includes TECNO AI features like the “Ask Ella” assistant and AI image-editing tools.

While TECNO has yet to announce the price in the Philippines, the Indian market saw its 5G sibling, the TECNO POVA Slim 5G (which is nearly as thin at 5.95mm), priced at ₹19,999 (roughly P12,861 or $227). Given that the SPARK Slim is the 4G-only variant, we expect it to be even more aggressively priced, potentially making it a killer budget contender when it hits shelves.
