Gaming just leveled up. ASUS Republic of Gamers, teaming up with Microsoft‘s Xbox, lit up the Philippines with the official launch of the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally.
Both handhelds feature a fully redesigned chassis, more powerful AMD processors under the hood, and a new software experience that puts Xbox front and center.
Leading the charge is the flagship ROG Xbox Ally X (24GB/1TB) in sleek black, commanding a local price of P56,995 (around $981). For those seeking power at a friendlier price point, the ROG Xbox Ally (16GB/512GB) lands at a competitive P36,995 ($637), released exclusively in a crisp white finish.
The ROG Xbox Ally series will be available in the Philippines starting October 16, with preorders kicking off today, October 7. Early birds who preorder until October 16 at ASUS and ROG Exclusive Stores stand a chance to get the Limited Pre-Order Bundle — including a free ROG Xbox Ally 2-in-1 Premium Case worth P2,995 ($51) for the first 100 eligible buyers. Both devices come bundled with a Game Pass subscription and a two-year international warranty for peace of mind and nonstop play.

All-day comfort and flagship power
The most noticeable upgrade is the physical design. Taking extensive feedback from the original model, ASUS has completely redesigned the chassis for an experience “inspired by Xbox.” The goal? All-day comfort. The new series features a more comfortable, contoured grip and revised texturing patterns, ensuring the handheld sits securely in your hands even during marathon sessions.
True enough, we spent time with the ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally during the launch event, and both felt surprisingly comfortable to use, even for extended gaming sessions.
Inside, the series is equipped with AMD Ryzen Z2 Series processors, a custom-built silicon for handheld performance. The regular ROG Xbox Ally runs on the AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, focusing on power efficiency to deliver console-caliber performance with better battery life from its 60Wh battery. The ROG Xbox Ally X, on the other hand, steps up to the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, promising next-level gaming for pushing higher framerates and graphical fidelity. It also features a larger 80Wh battery and new Impulse Triggers — a feature long requested by Xbox gamers for enhanced immersion and haptics in supported games.
Both chips fully leverage AMD’s latest suite of performance-boosting software, including FidelityFX Super Resolution, Radeon Super Resolution, and the frame-generating technology, AMD Fluid Motion Frames.
Software: A true Xbox handheld experience
Perhaps the biggest game-changer is the software experience. While running on Windows 11, ROG and Xbox worked hand-in-hand to eliminate the common friction points of PC handheld gaming. “We wanted to create an authentic Xbox experience in a handheld form factor,” explained Xbox corporate vice president Roanne Sones.
This is evident as soon as you turn on the device, as it will now boot directly into a full-screen Xbox interface. This new software layer, powered by Windows 11 underneath, has been fully optimized to reduce system overhead and enable easy joystick and button navigation. Quick access to settings is a single press of the Xbox button away via Game Bar. And critically, the full freedom of Windows remains, meaning games and mods from other sources are still easily accessible.
