The chase for the impossibly thin curved smartphone just got a real contender in the Philippines, and it’s surprisingly not a flagship. TECNO has officially launched the SPARK Slim — a device that made its debut as a concept at MWC 2025 in Barcelona, Spain — and it’s now hitting local shelves with a stylish design and a decent price tag.

The official retail price for the TECNO SPARK Slim is set at P9,499 (roughly $163) in the Philippines, available starting today, October 8, across both online and offline channels. But if you’re quick, the company is rolling out some seriously tempting launch promos. From October 8 to October 10, Shopee and TikTok Shop users can buy it for a discounted first-sale price of P7,999 ($138).

If you prefer the old-school route and go to a designated physical store this month or want to use Spaylater for installment payments, you can knock the price down even further to P7,599 ($131). That’s a killer deal for a phone that’s selling itself on premium-level engineering.

Thinness meets endurance and a playful glow

Look, the headline feature here is the thickness, or lack thereof. At a razor-thin 5.93mm and weighing just 156 grams, the TECNO SPARK Slim is being marketed as the world’s slimmest 3D-curved AI phone. This slimness isn’t a fluke; it’s the result of the brand’s Honeycomb Space Stacking technology which manages to shrink internal components by 12% to make space for a massive 5,160mAh battery.

What makes that number compelling is that this unit, which feels like a trio of credit cards, also supports 45-watt Super Charging and even 10-watt reverse-charging capability. For those worried about durability — a fair question for any ultrathin device — TECNO covered the display in Corning Gorilla Glass 7i and gave the entire handset a respectable IP64 dust and water resistance rating, alongside an MIL-STD-810H military-grade shock-resistance certification.

Powering the SPARK Slim is a MediaTek Helio G200 processor, a 4G chipset that, paired with a vapor chamber cooling system, should deliver a fluid-enough experience for everyday tasks and even a respectable performance in games like Honor of Kings (which TECNO is bundling with a free co-branded TM SIM card with data).

Perhaps the most distinct, and dare we say, sexiest feature is the Mood Light Design. Flanking the 50-megapixel main camera, plus a 2-megapixel secondary lens, are two circular camera rings that double as interactive status LEDs. They pulse and “express moods” during incoming calls, notifications, and charging, adding a unique, playful flair that moves the phone beyond a purely utilitarian object and into a form of self-expression. The screen itself is no slouch either: a vibrant 6.78-inch 1.5K 3D AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 4,500 nits peak brightness for perfect visibility under the harsh Philippine sun.

The smartphone runs on HiOS 15, based on Android 15, and is loaded with TECNO’s own set of AI-driven features like the Ask Ella assistant, which can handle real-time translation and document summarization. For quick file sharing, the Touch Transfer function allows for instant sharing between TECNO devices via NFC.

The SPARK Slim is a calculated gamble: betting that consumers at the budget end of the market are hungry for the kind of cutting-edge design and engineering traditionally reserved for ultra-expensive flagships.
