Cozy fans are in for a treat, as developer XD Games announced that its upcoming multiplayer life-simulation game, Heartopia, is scheduled to launch on January 7, 2026.

The game is adopting a free-to-play model and will be immediately accessible to mobile gamers, rolling out simultaneously on iOS and Android. It will also get a PC release, with a Steam debut to follow at a later date. If you’re already sold on the aesthetic, like we are, pre-registration is live right now across platforms. Signing up ahead of the release will net you bonus in-game rewards and currency to give you a head start.

Additionally, XD Games is rewarding the dedicated players who helped stress-test the Heartopia early on. If you participated in previous closed beta tests and successfully created a character, you’ll receive an exclusive Blueberry Crossbody Bag cosmetic item on day one. And if you grinded all the way to level 18 during testing, you’ll also unlock the Star Mascot Head as an extra reward.

According to the official lore, players arrive on a “blissful island” guided by a mysterious Star Spirit. You take on the role of a Town Developer, tasked with revitalizing the area. But unlike many mobile sims out there with segmented maps, Heartopia boasts a seamless open world. That means you can walk from your garden to the town square without hitting a single loading screen.

The announcement

The core gameplay loop focuses heavily on a robust “hobby system.” In Heartopia, you aren’t just farming; you’re also fishing, cooking meals, catching bugs, bird watching, and even engaging in pet care.

But the biggest differentiator — and frankly, the feature that will be music to the ears of veteran mobile gamers — is what Heartopia lacks. XD Games has confirmed that the title will launch with no stamina system and no mandatory daily checklists.

This is a significant departure from the standard mobile F2P playbook, where energy meters usually dictate how long you can play before you have to pay up or wait it out. In the game, you can basically do what you want most, for as long as you want.

The “multiplayer” aspect supports online global play, but with a twist. It cycles in 10 random neighbors every time you log in, ensuring the town always feels populated with new potential friends from around the world.

As for monetization, the in-game currency is used for cosmetics, with over 1,000 outfits available at launch, as well as banner rewards. However, XD Games explicitly notes that you can earn this currency organically simply by completing quests and engaging in in-game activities. We’ll see how that holds up when the servers go live January 7.

We’ve already pre-registered, so we might see you there — because based on everything we’ve seen so far — Heartopia is looking very promising.
