Samsung has quietly updated its entry-level smartphone lineup in the Philippines, listing the Samsung Galaxy A07 5G on its official website without the usual fanfare. Don’t confuse it with the LTE variant released in August 2025 alongside the Galaxy A17; this 5G model comes with a different spec sheet.

Unlike its LTE counterpart — or earlier budget entries — the Galaxy A07 5G delivers notable upgrades to two of the features users value most: screen refresh rate and battery life.

The new phone is available in Black and Light Violet. Interestingly, the violet variant is significantly more expensive, retailing at P9,990 (roughly $170) compared to the black version’s P8,290 ($140) despite both units sharing the same 4GB/128GB configuration.

Up front, the South Korean manufacturer equips the Samsung Galaxy A07 5G with a 6.7-inch PLS LCD panel capable of a 120Hz refresh rate. This marks a welcome departure from the 60Hz and 90Hz panels typically found in the company’s affordable tier. The display also peaks at 800 nits, which should make outdoor use less frustrating.

Powering the device is a 6,000mAh battery — a welcome anomaly, as Samsung doesn’t usually exceed the 5,000mAh mark in its mainstream Galaxy lineup. This hefty cell is a clear upgrade over the LTE model’s standard capacity, and when paired with 25-watt wired charging, it promises enough endurance to last beyond a single day.

New release!

Inside, the Galaxy A07 5G appears to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, listed as an octa-core chipset with clock speeds of 2.4GHz and 2GHz. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, expandable up to 2TB via microSD.

For optics, you are looking at a 50-megapixel main camera paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor on the back. It’s a functional setup, though it lacks the ultrawide lens included on the pricier Galaxy A17. An 8-megapixel front camera handles selfies and video calls, housed in a U-shaped notch that feels dated compared to the punch-hole cutouts now common even in lower tiers.

Samsung is committing to six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security maintenance for the Galaxy A07 5G. For an entry-level device, that level of longevity is pretty much unheard of and adds tremendous value for users who hold onto their smartphones for years.
