Epson Lifestudio projectors arrive in PH with style and portability TVs can’t match

Epson seems tired of TVs being giant black rectangles swallowing half the living room. The company just launched the Epson Lifestudio series in the Philippines, a line of portable lifestyle projectors that look more like high-end decor than office gear.

Forget when “portable” meant grainy visuals and tin-can audio. With this new lineup, Epson is going all-in on the hybrid-life crowd. Whether you’re a digital nomad bouncing between Airbnbs or someone craving a 150-inch cinema experience in a bedroom that could never fit a 150-inch TV, these projectors are built to keep up.

The lineup: Pop vs. Flex

The series is split into two distinct flavors: the Lifestudio Pop and the Lifestudio Flex.

  • Epson Lifestudio Pop (EF-61G, EF-62N). These are the ultracompacts. Weighing just 1.6kg, they are the grab-and-go options for anyone who wants a cinema experience at a staycation or a friend’s house.
  • Epson Lifestudio Flex (EF-71, EF-72). These are slightly beefier (under 4kg) but come with a built-in tilt-and-swivel stand. This is the lazy person’s dream feature. You can pivot the lens up to 90 degrees to project directly onto your ceiling without having to prop the device up on a stack of books.

While the base models (EF-61G and EF-71) stick to 1080p Full HD, the Plus iterations (EF-62N and EF-72) use Epson’s 4K PRO-UHD technology. It’s not native 4K, but at typical viewing distances, it’s practically indistinguishable, offering significantly sharper detail for high-bitrate streaming.

Underpinning these visuals is the electronics giant’s 3LCD Triple Core Engine, which uses three separate chips to process red, green, and blue light simultaneously. Unlike single-chip projectors that can suffer from the annoying “rainbow effect,” this tech ensures that colors stay vibrant and accurate even in rooms with a bit of ambient light.

The flagship Epson Lifestudio Flex Plus is the standout. It pushes 1,000 lumens of brightness — plenty for a dim room — and adds ambient mood lighting. Most importantly for the nomadic crowd, it supports USB-C Power Delivery. This means you can run it off a high-capacity power bank instead of hunting for a wall outlet.

On the software side, Epson skipped the clunky proprietary OS often found in mini projectors for Google TV. You get native Netflix, Disney Plus, and YouTube right out of the box, controlled by a single remote.

And audio isn’t an afterthought here. The Japanese manufacturer partnered with Bose on integrated stereo speakers. While you shouldn’t expect the rumble of a dedicated home theater subwoofer, the custom-tuned drivers and passive radiators are designed to fill a room without the tinny sound common in portable projectors.

For parties, the new Epson Projection Studio app, available on iOS and Android, turns the projector into an interactive hub. It allows guests to contribute photos, comments, and emojis to the big screen in real-time, effectively transforming a movie night into a shared social experience.

What makes this launch particularly interesting is what’s happening under the hood. At CES 2026, Google and Epson announced a partnership to bring Google TV with Gemini to the Lifestudio lineup.

While the high-end Lifestudio Grand is first in line for the update, there is a strong chance the Pop and Flex series will follow. These models use the same MediaTek system-on-chip architecture highlighted in the CES announcement. If the update rolls out, the projectors could soon gain natural language hardware control — such as saying, “Gemini, the screen is too dim” — and AI-generated screensavers powered by Google’s latest models.
