Good news, mobile gamers! The long wait is over. After racking up more than 30 million global preregistrations — and taking home not one, but two Most Anticipated Game Awards on the TapTap platform — Neverness to Everness (NTE) is now available to play for the international market, including the Philippines.

And we mean it is fully live. You aren’t just downloading a client to preload the game before its release. The servers are online — and it’s time to actually play.

If you avoided the hype cycle since this project was first teased a couple of years ago, let’s get you caught up. Developed by Hotta Studio, NTE is widely described as the anime equivalent of Grand Theft Auto. Instead of a standard, linear RPG, it drops you into a sprawling sandbox city that begs to be explored. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy: You can go fishing, run your own cafe, and even own apartments. You also have access to various cars and motorcycles, which makes mobility faster when navigating the sprawling urban landscape.

The world itself feels dynamic, too, largely due to interactive NPCs who react directly to what you do. Start causing chaos by stealing cars, for example, and you’ll trigger a wanted level. We experienced this firsthand during our initial playtest, which landed us in a rather interesting jail system. Calling NTE huge almost feels like an understatement.

Platform-wise, while there are console and PC versions out there, our main focus is the title’s availability on Android and iOS. Just make sure your phone has enough storage. You’ll need a lot of space to install the game, as it requires 19GB of space on our Android devices.

So, how does it actually feel to dive in? Performance-wise, it runs great. We tested NTE on devices running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s platforms, and they handled all the visuals maxed out at a rock-solid 60 frames per second without throttling. Battery efficiency is also solid; logging two hours of continuous gameplay on the OPPO Find X9 Ultra only drained the battery by 23%. But then again, that flagship does have a 7,050mAh capacity.

Overall, our early impressions are highly positive, outside of two random force-close errors. We breezed through the game’s prologue and got exceptionally lucky with the 30 free pulls handed out as a preregistration reward.
