Remember the nubia Neo 5 GT 5G we reviewed pretty positively back in March? Well, the brand just announced a more exciting new variant.
nubia has officially launched the nubia Neo 5 GT Special Edition, and it’s packing some surprisingly heavy-duty cooling technology into a midranger. According to the company, this device introduces the first and only Liquid and Air Dual Active Cooling System in its class. On top of that thermal architecture, it comes loaded with a suite of gaming-centric features, including fast shoulder triggers, marathon battery life, an esports-level AI Game Space overlay, and nubia’s exclusive AI Copilot Demi 2.0.
The price is still under wraps and will naturally vary by region. But here’s the good news for the local market: The nubia Neo 5 GT Special Edition is confirmed to roll out globally this July, starting in Southeast Asia. Given that timeline, there;s a high chance the Philippines is on the shortlist for this release.
When it does arrive, you can expect two storage configurations — 256GB and 512GB — both paired with 12GB of physical RAM. nubia is also backing this release with a five-year software update commitment, a welcome promise for long-term usability. You’ll have two color options to choose from — Surge Black and Glacial Silver.

Let’s talk about that cooling setup, though. Dubbed the AquaCore Cooling System, it combines a built-in active fan with AI server-grade liquid coolant driven by a piezoelectric micropump, similar to what the nubia RedMagic 11 Pro offers. There’s even a transparent section on the back that lets you see the coolant flowing, an aesthetic approach heavily inspired by what we’ve seen on the latest RedMagic flagship. It’s an aggressive approach designed to keep frame rates from tanking, particularly during extended gaming sessions.
Under the hood, the nubia Neo 5 GT Special Edition runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 5G processor. While it isn’t a top-tier flagship chip, it should handle most modern titles at medium graphics settings without issue. To help squeeze out every frame, the company integrated its Cold-Core Trinity and NeoTurbo Engine optimizations, which work together behind the scenes to maintain high and stable performance.
The screen sounds like a treat for mobile gamers, too. You’re looking at a 6.8-inch 1.5K AMOLED display pushing a 144Hz refresh rate, alongside 4,500 nits of local peak brightness. That means reasonably sharp, vivid visuals, and smooth motion, even if you’re playing outside in a bright environment. To round out the sensory experience, the nubia Neo 5 GT Special Edition features stereo dual speakers tuned with DTS:X Ultra and an X-axis linear motor for haptic feedback.
For the competitive crowd, nubia threw in 550Hz Neo Triggers 5.0. When combined with a 3,049Hz instant touch sampling rate and the Magic Touch 3.0 algorithm, the manufacturer claims an industry-leading sub-5.5ms latency for near-instant touch response.
A sizable 6,210mAh dual-cell battery powers all this, supported by 80-watt fast charging (though the European market gets 45 watts). It also supports bypass charging, letting you power the smartphone directly from the wall to reduce heat generation while gaming. And if you’re running on fumes in the middle of a match, a 5% Extreme Mode can reportedly squeeze out up to 30 minutes of extra playtime.
