After launching in China in June, nubia‘s RedMagic Astra 2 gaming tablet is officially making its way to global markets.
Interestingly, RedMagic isn’t changing a thing here. The international version brings the exact same overkill specs debuted in China, so expect it to be a powerfully specced, all-metal device designed to run intensive mobile games for hours on end.
For those looking to pick one up, the entry-level configuration packing 12GB of physical RAM and 256GB of internal storage starts at $699, or roughly ₱43,110, in most global markets, while North American buyers will see a $749 (₱46,194) price tag. Bumping up to the beefier 16GB of RAM and 512GB storage model will set you back $799 (₱49,278) globally, or $849 (₱52,361) in the United States. The RedMagic Astra 2 is available in two colorways, namely Eclipse Black and Starfrost Silver.
Open sales begin August 26. RedMagic is also running an early-bird voucher campaign starting mid-August, granting priority access and throwing in a complimentary 80-watt fast charger and an exclusive keychain for those who want to jump the line.

Literally, one of the biggest highlights here is the Astra 2’s 9.06-inch 2.4K OLED display. RedMagic pushed the refresh rate to 185Hz — the highest currently available on any tablet — allowing for buttery-smooth gameplay. It also features a Synaptics touch system boasting a 300Hz average touch-sampling rate that peaks at an instant 2,000Hz, so input lag is practically non-existent for competitive mobile gamers.
Under the hood sits a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 5G processor from Qualcomm, paired with RedMagic’s proprietary RedCore R4 dedicated gaming chip. While the top-end Snapdragon handles the heavy computational lifting, the R4 steps in to intelligently manage power allocation, upscale graphics to 2K resolution, and keep framerates stable during intensive gaming sessions.
To keep all that silicon from melting down, RedMagic equipped the Astra 2 with what it calls the AquaCore Cooling System 2.0. It’s the first tablet to feature active liquid cooling, featuring a large 4D vapor chamber and Liquid Metal 3.0 for rapid heat transfer. For audio and haptics, it rocks DTS Ultra-certified stereo speakers and dual-vibration motors that give you satisfying, console-like feedback. It ships with Android 16, skinned with RedMagic OS 11.5.

Camera setups on gaming tablets are rarely the main event, and the RedMagic Astra 2 keeps things standard with a 13-megapixel shooter on the back and a 9-megapixel front-facer optimized for video calls.
Keeping the lights on is an 8,300mAh dual-cell battery that supports 75-watt wired fast charging. And in a clever design choice, the brand included two USB-C ports. There’s a high-speed USB 3.2 Gen 2 port on the short side that handles the full 75 watts, plus a secondary 40-watt port on the long edge. The latter allows you to comfortably charge the device while gaming in landscape mode without the cable getting in your way.
The RedMagic Astra 2 couldn’t have launched at a better time. Considering its aggressive starting price, this product is a competitive alternative to gaming smartphones. It runs cooler and offers a much bigger, more immersive screen than any standard handset ever could.
