Getting your kid their first smartphone is a modern parenting milestone — and a potential logistical nightmare. Between making sure they don’t rack up exorbitant charges and ensuring they actually have data when they need to text you after school, managing a child’s mobile line can be a hassle.

Globe Telecom’s latest pitch to solve this is GPlan Junior, a new postpaid line designed for users aged 7 to 20.

Priced at ₱499 (around $8) a month, the plan acts as an add‑on to an existing Globe Postpaid Plan 999 or higher. It is built around parental supervision, allowing the main account holder to monitor and manage the child’s data consumption directly through the GlobeOne app.

The base package comes with unlimited calls and texts, 100 minutes of landline calls, and 10GB of all‑access data with a rollover mechanism, where unused gigabytes carry over to the next billing cycle or can be swapped for other allocations. Where the plan gets interesting is its app‑specific perks. It includes automatic free access to Messenger Kids and Mobile Legends out of the box. On top of that, families can pick three apps for unlimited access — one from each of the following categories:

  • Video: YouTube Kids, Netflix, Disney+, or Viu
  • Social: Viber or WhatsApp
  • Play: PUBG, Call of Duty, Discord, or Roblox

Solving the prepaid problem

By tying the child’s line to a parent’s postpaid account, Globe eliminates the classic prepaid issue: running out of load right when a kid needs to contact home. Parents have full visibility over the account via the GlobeOne app, where they can track data usage, swap data options, and manage the unlimited app selections.

Globe is also integrating a push for financial literacy. The telco is offering up to ₱500 in GCash vouchers for eligible GPlan Junior subscribers who successfully sign up for a GCash Jr. account. It’s a clever ecosystem strategy — locking young users into both the telco and its fintech arm — while providing parents a supervised sandbox to teach their kids about digital money management.

To get a line, parents or legal guardians need to visit a Globe Store with proof of eligibility, which includes the dependent’s PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority) birth certificate and a valid ID such as a school ID or passport.
