The HONOR Robot Phone is no longer just a concept.
The company has officially launched the device globally — with a Philippine arrival on the way — and its headline feature is hard to miss: a fully integrated four-degree-of-freedom (4DoF) mechanical gimbal that physically moves the smartphone’s camera. Instead of relying entirely on software to smooth footage or keep a subject in frame, the Robot Phone can pan, tilt, and reposition its camera using a miniature motorized system built into the unit.
HONOR says it’s the first smartphone to use its Titanium Agile Gimbal, turning what normally requires a separate camera rig into something you can carry in your pocket.
A tiny gimbal with a lot going on
The gimbal is made from more than 100 precision components and went through 60 manufacturing processes. HONOR reveals it has also filed more than 100 patents around the system.
Despite all that hardware, the brand says the gimbal is 65% smaller than mainstream gimbals and 200% stronger. A 2.6-gram titanium motor can move at up to 360 degrees per second, while a separate Super Steel Flip Motor provides the torque needed to move the camera mechanism.
That matters because this isn’t simply a camera that can swivel a little. The HONOR Robot Phone is designed to move its camera while you’re shooting, opening up shots that would normally require a tripod, gimbal, or another person holding the camera.

HONOR and ARRI are bringing cinema tools to a phone
The Robot Phone is the first product from HONOR’s cinematic imaging partnership with ARRI, the German company known for its professional cinema cameras.
This goes beyond adding an ARRI-branded filter. The device incorporates selected parts of ARRI’s image processing and color workflow, including ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3, and ARRI Looks.
The rear camera system includes:
- 200MP Agile Gimbal Main Camera: 1/1.28-inch sensor, f/1.6 aperture, and the built-in mechanical gimbal
- 200MP Periscope Telephoto: 1/1.4-inch sensor and 2.7x optical zoom
- 50MP Ultra-Wide: 122-degree field of view
The main camera can record 10-bit ARRI LogC3 video in ARRI CINEMA mode. HONOR claims its image processing can deliver up to 14 stops of dynamic range, while AI noise reduction improves video signal-to-noise ratio by 8dB.
For people who actually edit their footage, the more interesting part is what happens after you hit record. The Robot Phone processes image data in 14-bit 4:4:4 before outputting 10-bit LogC3 and 4:2:2 video. Footage can then move into software such as DaVinci Resolve, where ARRI LUTs can be applied during post-production.
In other words, the brand is trying to make the HONOR Robot Phone part of a video workflow, rather than just another handset with a bunch of camera modes.

The phone can follow you around
The mechanical hardware becomes more interesting when paired with the HONOR Robot Phone’s AI features.
The device runs MagicOS and introduces YOYO Robot mode, which lets the camera move on its own. AI Live-Tracking and voice-source localization can keep the camera pointed at you while you’re vlogging, livestreaming, moving around, or taking a video call. You can also control the camera with gestures, meaning you don’t necessarily have to touch the smartphone to deploy the camera arm or start capturing a shot.

HONOR has included several movement modes, including Tilt Lock, First Person View (FPV), FPV Vertical, and AI SpinShot. The idea is straightforward: set up the phone, step away, and let the hardware handle some of the camera movement.
YOYO can do more than camera work, too. Its Auto Execution feature is designed to understand requests and carry out multistep tasks across supported apps and system settings. The company is likewise opening an Agent Skills interface so third-party developers can build features around the unit’’ gimbal and sensing hardware.
It’s still a flagship phone
Underneath the moving camera is a fairly conventional high-end smartphone.
The HONOR Robot Phone uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 5G chipset and has a custom cooling system designed to manage heat during longer recording sessions. It packs a 7,060mAh silicon-carbon battery, with 120-watt wired and 50-watt wireless charging.
The display is a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED panel with a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a claimed peak brightness of 6,800 nits. It also supports 4,320Hz PWM dimming and is protected by HONOR’s NanoCrystal Shield.
So while the camera is the attention-grabber, HONOR hasn’t treated the rest of the smartphone like an afterthought.
The Robot Phone has been a long time coming
The HONOR Robot Phone first appeared publicly at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona, Spain, in March, where the brand showcased the moving-camera concept before taking it through a series of real-world demonstrations. It later appeared at Cannes Film Festival’s China Night and the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival, where HONOR used the gimbal system to demonstrate stabilized tracking shots.
Now the concept is becoming an actual commercial product. HONOR has confirmed that the Robot Phone is coming to the Philippines, though the company has not yet announced the local price or an exact release date. For Filipino buyers who have been watching the device since its MWC debut, the wait is now less about whether it will arrive and more about when.
