Buying an Apple device online is one thing. Buying one that costs ₱80,000 (roughly $1,281) or more is another. Power Mac Center has officially launched its digital storefront on Lazada’s LazMall, giving Filipino shoppers another authorized place to buy Apple hardware without wondering who, exactly, is on the other side of the checkout button.
The timing of this expansion is hardly a coincidence. Anticipation is already building for the next generation of the iPhone. In fact, LazMall is positioning itself to offer one of the largest selections of iPhone 18 units in the country to give consumers a convenient and trusted way to buy the latest devices once they are officially released.
If the current rumor mill is accurate, Apple’s upcoming “Surprise and shine” hardware event on Sept. 9 — broadcasting at 1 a.m. on Sept. 10 for those of us in the Philippines — is going to be a huge one. Not only does it mark the inaugural product reveal for John Ternus, who just took the CEO reins from Tim Cook, but it’s expected to introduce a radical shift in Apple’s lineup.
We’re looking at the expected debut of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, heavily tipped to sport a 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip and a variable-aperture camera that gives mobile photographers actual physical control over depth of field and low-light performance. Even better, industry whispers strongly suggest Cupertino is ready to finally drop a passport-style foldable phone. Tentatively dubbed the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold, the flagship reportedly opens into a virtually crease-free 7.8-inch display, swapping out the inner Face ID module for a Touch ID sensor integrated right into the side power button. Alongside the phones, fresh updates to the Apple Watch Series 12 and AirPods are also on the horizon.
Is Apple finally launching a foldable, and will it arrive in the Philippines, too?
All this bleeding-edge technology is going to cause some serious wallet damage, which is exactly why having a verified local retail channel matters. Supply chain murmurs point to major price hikes due to advanced chip manufacturing, with the iPhone 18 Pro potentially starting at $1,399 (around ₱86,367 before local taxes) and the Pro Max model hitting $1,499 (around ₱92,544). The rumored foldable could easily command an entry price of $2,000, or just over ₱123,454. When you’re dropping that kind of cash, clicking “Add to Cart” requires immense trust, and you certainly don’t want to rely on a sketchy third-party seller.
Power Mac Center Head of E-commerce Paola Jannicke Balugay notes that the company’s move to Lazada is about giving shoppers the exact same confidence in authenticity, reliability, and service that they expect from walking into a physical PMC store. Lazada Philippines’ electronics category director, Michele dela Cruz, echoed this sentiment, pointing out that bringing established Apple retail partners to LazMall gives consumers more choices and peace of mind when shopping for high-value tech.
So, while we wait to see if Apple’s new titanium foldable actually lives up to the hype, you can at least rest easy knowing you won’t have to brave mall traffic to secure a legitimate unit when the preorders eventually go live.
