ShopeeFood finally goes live in PH — but you might not see it just yet

If you’ve been opening the Shopee app strictly for flash sales and late-night checkout sprees, you might want to take a closer look. ShopeeFood is now rolling out in the Philippines, with the service initially available to a limited number of users in Metro Manila.

The e-commerce platform is keeping things relatively quiet for now. Instead of a major launch event, Shopee announced, “The wait is over! ShopeeFood PH is officially here!” and updated its official Facebook cover photo to promote a “Soft Launch in Metro Manila.”

According to a subsequent update from the brand, the delivery service is currently rolling out to a select group of users. Those who don’t see the feature yet will have to wait as Shopee expands availability to more users and areas. When one user commented that the option wasn’t showing up in their app, the ShopeeFood PH page reiterated that availability is currently limited to specific Metro Manila cities and users.

Rather than asking users to download another app and create another account, ShopeeFood lives inside the main Shopee app. An email sent to customers, including us at REVU Philippines, confirms that the service can be accessed directly through Shopee. That gives the platform a potentially useful advantage. Existing users can access another service from the same app they already use for shopping, payments, and other transactions. Shopee can also tap into features already familiar to its users, including ShopeePay and Shopee Coins.

Just arrived!

The company isn’t launching empty-handed, either. Based on promotional materials, the initial restaurant lineup already includes several familiar names, including:

  • McDonald’s
  • Pizza Hut and Domino’s
  • Taco Bell and Dairy Queen
  • Krispy Kreme and Potato Corner

ShopeeFood isn’t entering an empty market. Food delivery in the Philippines already has established players, including GrabFood and foodpanda. Grab, in particular, has built a broader ecosystem around its app, with services that include food and grocery delivery alongside its other offerings.

Shopee’s answer is similarly ecosystem-driven: ShopeeFood is built into an app that millions of shoppers already use, rather than requiring a separate food-delivery app. That’s not an entirely new approach for ShopeeFood. In Indonesia, for example, ShopeeFood is also integrated directly into the Shopee app, where users can browse merchants, order food, and pay through the platform. ShopeeFood also operates in Vietnam.

Whether that convenience is enough to persuade Filipinos to add another food-delivery option remains to be seen. For now, ShopeeFood is starting small, with its Philippine rollout limited to selected users and locations in Metro Manila.

We have reached out to Shopee Philippines for specific details like which Metro Manila cities are included in the initial rollout, and we will update this story once we hear back. For now, it might be worth opening your Shopee app and checking whether the Food tab has appeared. If it hasn’t, you’re probably not missing anything; the rollout is still limited.
