HMD Global launched a couple of Nokia-branded Android smartphones today, including the budget-priced Nokia 1.3.
The Nokia 1.3 is one of the first devices to launch with Android 10 (Go Edition), which is a watered-down version of Google’s latest mobile operating system. It’s designed specifically for phones with low-end specs to match their price tag. The budget handset is also promised to receive the Go Edition of Android 11 when it becomes available, and it should get Android 12 after that, too.

What’s more, the Nokia 1.3 is the first to arrive with Google’s new Camera Go app on tap, which boasts AI features and a clean and clutter-free user interface that is made for first-time smartphone owners. Per usual, the new Nokia will be preloaded with other Go apps as well, such as Gmail Go, YouTube Go, and Maps Go, among others.

Under the hood, the Nokia 1.3 has a low-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 chipset bundled with 1GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. It also includes a 3,000mAh removable battery that charges over a microUSB port. Elsewhere, the single rear-facing camera is 8 megapixels, while the selfie shooter packs a 5-megapixel sensor. The HD+ screen is IPS LCD, and measures 5.71 inches.
The Nokia 1.3 will be available in April for €95 (or around P5,219 or $102 converted). Its color options are Charcoal, Cyan, and Sand. It’s highly possible that HMD Global plans to bring the Nokia 1.3 to the Philippine market in the near future, but since the government has put the entire island of Luzon under quarantine due to COVID-19, we can’t say when it will come out.
