12 smartphones in PH with batteries bigger than 4,000mAh

TODAY’s smartphones are monsters compared with what they were a few years ago. They take photos that can rival those shot with point-and-shoot cameras. Their screens are so sharp — maybe even sharper than that of your TV — thanks to the number of pixels crammed into them. Internal storage is huger than ever — the highest being 256GB, a capacity that is even bigger than many of today’s laptops’ memory. Processing power has gone through the roof. But battery life? That aspect hasn’t changed much, what a pity.

(Update, July 23, 2017: The original post was published on November 22, 2016. We’ve updated this article today.)

In fact, to counter the dismal showing in that area, manufacturers have come up with smartphones with fast-charging capabilities. Now, you can charge your mobile from zero to full in just approximately 100 minutes, on average, down from 165 minutes two years ago. Power banks have become popular as well.

But what if you’d rather have a device that has a high battery capacity — the thickness of the handset be damned — because you don’t like bringing accessories around? Don’t worry, we’ve listed smartphones that boast batteries bigger than 4,000mAh below, for your reference. Better yet, they’re all officially available in the Philippines.

Higher battery capacity doesn’t automatically mean longer battery life, of course. Exhibit A: The OnePlus 3 (3,000mAh) we were able to use for a month runs out of juice faster than our Cherry Mobile Flare 5 (2,500mAh) review unit. But at least it’s a more reliable measurement than, say, using the number of megapixels to predict the quality of photos a device takes.
