REMEMBER our story about ASUS possibly announcing the ZenFone 4 in the Philippines on August 19? Turns out we were right! The ASUS ZenFone 4 is indeed getting an official announcement in a couple of weeks, as confirmed by the brand today.

Just a few hours ago, ASUS’ local outfit posted a teaser image of the next-generation ZenFone in the hands of new brand ambassador Gong Yoo, with a caption stating that ASUS will hold a global press conference in Taiwan on August 17. And then two days after that, the ZenFone 4 will be launched locally, possibly with the famous South Korean leading man and Jerry Shen, ASUS’ CEO, in tow.

Regardless, there will be much to look forward to on the 19th. For starters, the standard ZenFone 4 will pack two rear cameras on the rear, as clearly shown in the teaser. Our money is on the possibility one of the cameras is equipped with a telephoto lens for zooming in on the action, similar to the ZenFone 3 Zoom’s dual-camera system.

The higher-end ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro, meanwhile, is believed to come with “flagship in 2017” internals, including a powerhouse Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-a-chip with 6GB of RAM and at least 64GB of storage. It will also likely feature a pair of cameras round the back, just like most of today’s heavy hitters.
