If you care about the screen of your next device, then this 5.7-incher may be your match. The ASUS ZenFone Max Plus (M1) has an on-trend nearly borderless display, the Taiwanese manufacturer’s second 18:9 phone after the ZenFone Pegasus 4S. But unlike the Pegasus, this one is not China-bound. Its screen resolution is also better at 1080p.

However, if you care more about what’s underneath the hood more than a smartphone’s surface, the ZenFone Max Plus (M1) may leave you feeling a bit disappointed. First, its 4,130mAh battery is smaller than those of other Max releases. Second, its MediaTek 6750T processor is dated and is known to have heating problems.

We actually like last year’s P9,995 ($200) ASUS ZenFone 4 Max better. The handset packs a 5,000mAh battery and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chip. In fact, we included it on our “Best smartphones of 2017: From high-end to low-end” list.

But that’s just us. If you’re still interested in the ASUS ZenFone Max Plus (M1), here are other details you may want to know about it: a dual 16-megapixel + 8-megapixel main camera system, 8-megapixel selfie cam, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and Android 7.0 Nougat-based ASUS ZenUI 4.0.
