How to pay in installments on Lazada PH without a credit card

Lazada Philippines, in case you didn’t get the notice, now lets customers pay for their purchases in installments without a credit card or anything like it.

The best part is that the entire process — from application to approval — is done online, similar to how you would buy an item from the Alibaba affiliate. That means you won’t have to queue somewhere in order to have your installment plan approved.

Lazada Philippines calls the new service BillEase, and it allows customers without a credit or bank account to make purchases in installments on the online retail store a la Home Credit. The financing scheme offers zero-percent installment plans of up to P10,000 (roughly $200). You can use BillEase to foot larger bills (of up to P30,000 or $602), too — for a small charge.

The BillEase website points out that the estimated time of approval could vary from a few minutes to one banking day and guarantees that there are no hidden fees or charges for using the service.

All sounds good so far, doesn’t it? However, BillEase financing plans will only stretch out as many as six payments over a period of up to 90 days, meaning you’ll have to make subsequent payments every 15 days until your order is paid for. It’s a pretty tight leash, if you think about it.

Nonetheless, if you still want to go ahead with it, here’s how you can pay for your Lazada orders over up to 12 weeks.

Step 1. Click on this link and proceed to the BillEase website to compute your payment and fill out the application form.

Step 2. Submit a valid, government-issued I.D., plus the required proofs of income and residency and other relevant documents to BillEase. Wait for your application to be processed and approved. Do note there is a 6 p.m. cut-off time for submissions.

Step 3. Once approved, BillEase will send you a unique voucher code. Redeem it at the checkout, settle the down payment upon completing your order, and then pay the installment amounts online or offline.

You can only use the voucher code once, so you’ll have to finish paying off your current loan first before applying for another one.
